Pentagon tells reporter Milley ‘reviewed lawful launch procedures’ following call from Nancy Pelosi

Fox News National Security Correspondent Jennifer Griffin is reporting that the Pentagon is claiming that Gen. Mark Milley “reviewed lawful launch procedures” after he received a phone call from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“Pentagon officials: Gen Milley did not try to insert himself in the chain of command regarding the launch of nuclear weapons, but he made sure everyone knew what their roles were and what they weren’t. They reviewed lawful launch procedures following Pelosi phone call,” Griffin tweeted concerning the Pentagon’s gaslighting on the issue.

“I am told that Gen Milley had 2 routine calls with his Chinese counterpart and more than a dozen calls with NATO allies after Jan 6 to reassure them the US government was stable and to reassure China that the US did not plan a surprise attack, an effort to avoid misunderstanding,” she also stated in a separate tweet.

The latest controversy surrounding Milley arises as reporters Bob Woodward and Bob Costa wrote in their latest book that Milley, who is the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, instructed military officials to not take orders from anyone unless they went through him first. That order was intended to bypass former President Trump due to what Milley deemed “erratic behavior.” The general then conducted two calls with a Chinese general to assure him that he would not allow China to be “surprised” by a U.S. attack while Trump was in charge.

“You never know what a president’s trigger point is,” Milley told his senior staff, according to the book.

In response, Milley took extraordinary action, and called a secret meeting in his Pentagon office on January 8 to review the process for military action, including launching nuclear weapons. Speaking to senior military officials in charge of the National Military Command Center, the Pentagon’s war room, Milley instructed them not to take orders from anyone unless he was involved.

“No matter what you are told, you do the procedure. You do the process. And I’m part of that procedure,” Milley told the officers, according to the book. He then went around the room, looked each officer in the eye, and asked them to verbally confirm they understood.

Reporter Jerry Dunleavy from the DC Examiner tweeted, “This report claims Milley pledged to alert his CCP counterpart in the event of a U.S. attack, quoting Milley as saying: ‘General Li, you & I have known each other for now five years. If we’re going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time. It’s not going to be a surprise.’”

In January, it was reported by Red State that Pelosi called Milley to push him to circumvent Trump and prevent him from taking military action. It appears that Pelosi was also behind Milley calling China to warn against the former president.

“What I’m saying to you is that if they couldn’t even stop him from an assault on the Capitol, who even knows what else he may do? And is there anybody in charge at the White House who was doing anything but kissing his fat butt all over this?” Pelosi allegedly said in the call according to CNN.

She added, “You know he’s crazy. He’s been crazy for a long time.”

Milley reportedly responded, “Madam Speaker, I agree with you on everything.”

Following that call, Milley ostensibly took it upon himself to take action against Trump. He ordered his top service chiefs to watch everything “all the time.” He called the director of the National Security Agency, Paul Nakasone, and advised him, “Needles up … keep watching, scan.” He also allegedly told then-CIA Director Gina Haspel, “Aggressively watch everything, 360.”

Many contend that Milley’s conduct was nothing short of treasonous. A number of high-profile conservatives are calling for his resignation or court-martial if the accusations turn out to have merit. Others want President Biden to fire him.

“I write with grave concern regarding recent reporting that General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, worked to actively undermine the sitting Commander in Chief of the United States Armed Forces and contemplated a treasonous leak of classified information to the Chinese Communist Party in advance of a potential armed conflict with the People’s Republic of China (PRC),” Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) wrote in a letter to President Biden.

“These actions by General Milley demonstrate a clear lack of sound judgment, and I urge you to dismiss him immediately,” he stated.

“According to this account, our country’s top defense official secretly colluded with our chief military rival to undercut the elected President of the United States. How do you describe this? ‘Deep state’ isn’t strong enough. It’s treason. It’s a crime. And apparently, Mark Milley isn’t the only person implicated in it. Others knew it was happening,” Fox host Tucker Carlson contended.

Former President Trump also weighed in on Milley’s alleged actions. He told host Sean Spicer on Newsmax, “For him to say that I was going to attack China is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard and everybody knows it, and I have to tell you, I don’t know if they have him on tape saying this but I found Woodward and I found his cohorts to be extremely dishonorable people, that’s why I didn’t do an interview with him.”

“I think he’s highly overrated,” Trump said concerning Woodward, “this guy’s one of the most overrated guys, he’s a sleaze.”

Trump said if the story is true, then Milley should be charged with treason.

People are less-than-trusting when it comes to the Pentagon and even less so when it comes to Gen. Mark Milley:
