While dramatic news about Afghanistan and COVID-19 lockdowns has dominated much of the news cycle, ranchers on the US-Mexico border have a front row view of the crisis that continues to unfold there, such as the accumulation of “[President] Biden bodies”
Rancher and lawyer Brett Smith of Kinnie, Texas told Fox News on Monday that upwards of $60,000 worth of damage has been done to his land from illegal immigrants overwhelming the southern border. Smith told “Fox & Friends” that in addition, bodies are piling up as illegal immigrants die in attempts to reach locations within the U.S. and have reached such an extent that “we’ve started calling them Biden bodies… It’s from one policy [that] this is occurring, and it’s the same policy that can be stopped by one person but it’s not happening.”
He went on to state that “it’s time for lawmakers to stop placing Americans in second place to illegal immigrants.”
When asked why he thought so many Democrats refuse to visit the border, Smith responded, “that’s a good question. I don’t know.”
“A lot of the Democrat lawmakers in this area, when we were meeting with Senator [Ted] Cruz and Congressman [Chip] Roy, they were asking him ‘what Democrats can I contact that are my own party, to do something about this’ and they didn’t have any clear answers for them. There’s Democrat mayors… and people down here like that, that want to talk to their own party about this crisis, but they can’t even get a hold of anyone. The only ones coming down to speak to those Democrats are Ted Cruz and other Republicans like him…”
“Safety isn’t a political issue. It’s not a Republican or Democrat issue. It’s a human issue. Everyone wants to be safe. It shouldn’t be drawn down political lines, yet in Washington, you can see that clearly that it is…” Smith added.

Roy seemed to confirm this in a tweet ripping many senior Democrats for being totally uninvolved with the situation on the border:
“Dead bodies piling up here on the Rio Grande, Texans getting hurt.”
“Where is Joe Biden? Where is Kamala Harris? Where is Secretary Mayorkas? Where is Speaker Pelosi? Where is Chuck Schumer?”

The ongoing border crisis seems to have reached new heights since President Biden reversed former President Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy. There have been multiple lawsuits against the Biden administration for the reversal of this policy, and a federal judge recently ruled in favor of Texas in one such lawsuit, saying that the way in which the policy was terminated was illegal.
Deaths related to Fentanyl have increased, and the amount that has been successfully seized at the border has likewise skyrocketed, reaching 8,507 pounds so far in 2021, versus 4,776 in 2020, and 2,801 in 2019, according to the U.S. Customs & Border Protection.
According to the Fox News segment, Cruz (R-TX) wants to bring the mayor of McAllen, Texas to Washington to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
