The New York Times almost performed a genuine act of journalism this weekend but was sadly stopped short because of backlash from left-wing zealots.
Sometime relatively early Saturday, the paper posted a piece bluntly titled, “Biden, Still Grieving His Son, Finds That Not Everyone Wants to Hear About It.”
The headline was 100 percent accurate. Gold Star families who lost loved ones because of President Joe Biden’s botched withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan have expressed annoyance at the president’s narcissistic focus on himself.
The actual piece admits this by citing several examples, including that of Mark Schmitz, whose son Jared Smith died during the bombing at the airport in Kabul.
“‘This is Jared Schmitz,’ his father, Mark Schmitz, said he told President Biden … at Dover Air Force Base, where the two men had traveled to observe the dignified transfer of the remains of 13 U.S. Marines killed last week in the attack in Kabul. ‘Don’t forget his name,'” the piece reads.
“But Mr. Schmitz was confused by what happened next: The president turned the conversation to his oldest son, Beau, who died of brain cancer in 2015. … ‘I respect anybody that lost somebody,’ Mr. Schmitz added in an interview, ‘but it wasn’t an appropriate time.'”
But according to the president’s sycophantic supporters and groupies, it’s NEVER “an appropriate time” to hold their dear leader accountable for anything. And the fact that the Times breached this rule means everyone at the paper deserves to be fired.
That paper is broken. Fire everyone. https://t.co/6G5i5VC5Gq

And since the zealots obviously can’t fire anyone at the paper, they’ve taken to cancelling their memberships instead. Observe:
Final straw. Cancelled. @nytimes https://t.co/AmG8Zk8H7v

I canceled this week after many years. Felt so good to no longer support this mess…

Just cancelled my subscription over this. @nytimes : shame on you
— Mimi (@Tajjygirl) September 5, 2021
You should be ashamed for publishing this. Hope you enjoy becoming tabloid journalism. So sick of you and seriously considering cancelling my subscription. Beyond disgusting.. Did Rupert Murdoch buy your paper!!!???
— Janet Miller (@JanetecMiller) September 5, 2021
What a disgrace. I cancelled my subscription after the Tom Cotton fiasco and have never regretted it.
— Bob Franklin (@BobFran68995191) September 4, 2021
The “Tom Cotton fiasco” refers to the time that a sitting U.S. senator was allowed to post a column at the Times arguing that then-President Donald Trump should send in the military to quell the violent, deadly rioting occurring in Democrat-run cities.
Despite the Times caving to the mob and issuing a public apology for posting a column that — according to poll data — jived with what the majority of the public wanted, left-wing zealots clearly still remain peeved over the incident.
This despite it being known for a fact that the paper spent four years purposefully being an anti-Trump mouthpiece for the Democrat Party. Even now, the paper continues for the most part to prop up the Democrat Party’s agenda:
NY Times shares doozy of an excuse on why WH looks to avoid joint presser with Putin https://t.co/L9FqZrkSQa

The only real exception has been with the situation in Afghanistan. The Biden administration botched the withdrawal of U.S. troops so badly that every mainstream media outlet, even CNN, has been aiming criticism at him.
But the president’s groupies have become so conditioned to always seeing Republicans trashed and their Democrat leaders praised that they’re having an extremely difficult time seeing their “dear leader” finally be held accountable.
Likewise, the media are having an extremely difficult time holding the president accountable. Take the Times, which couldn’t resist changing the headline of the Beau Biden piece to be less “offensive” to its far-left base.
Look:
In Invoking Beau, Biden Broaches a Loss That’s Guided His Presidency https://t.co/PUxTYgAXmy

“In Invoking Beau, Biden Broaches a Loss That’s Guided His Presidency,” the new headline reads.
But this headline seems to have nothing to do with the topic of the piece, which is how the president’s demonstrable self-obsession has prevented him from connecting and empathizing with Gold Star families.
Ironically, even with the headline change, the zealots still remain enraged:
Wow, what a-holes.
The original: @nytimes: “Biden, Still Grieving His Son Beau, Finds That Not Everyone Wants to Hear About It”

They’ve since changed the headline—but this is really, really inappropriate and uncalled for. pic.twitter.com/rqFPDOXI9f

When the New York Times tries to do damage control by changing the headline, they know they fucked up.
But ultimately, they don’t care. Heartless bastards.
— Michelangelo Signorile (@MSignorile) September 5, 2021
Changed headline, I see. Still nasty.
— Michael Turner (@Michael90152809) September 5, 2021
Some of the zealots seem delusional as well.
Case in point:
Going after Hunter 24/7 wasn’t working, so they gotta attack the son who died. Where does Beau get off dying like that?
— The Eggs of March (@Catcahill15) September 5, 2021
The Times barely ever runs reports on the president’s crack-smoking son, Hunter. It certainly didn’t run any critical reports on him when the laptop scandal erupted last October.
In fact, the entire mainstream media — sans Fox News — chose at the time to portray the scandal as just a “conspiracy theory.”
