Tucker rips Lindsey Graham for second week in a row prior to senator’s appearance on Hannity

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on Tuesday tore into Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) for a second week in a row right before he appeared as a guest on network colleague Sean Hannity’s program, which follows “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Towards the end of his program, Carlson singled out Graham as a lawmaker who backed the war in Afghanistan unconditionally for all of the 20-odd years it went on, often praising imagined progress in the war effort and voting consistently to fund it, though, in the end, the Afghan National Army collapsed along with the country’s elected government, leaving the Taliban in charge once more as they were when the U.S. invaded following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

“For 20 years the foreign policy establishment and its many lickspittles in Congress have assured us that everything was fine. We’re building democracy. We’re doing a great job. That’s what our trillions were buying,” Carlson said.

“What do those people have to say now? What does Lindsey Graham have to say about that?” he asked. “At some point when we get a little time in the next week, we’re going to put together a montage of Lindsey Graham talking about how great Afghanistan is for the last 20 years and ask him, ‘did you believe it when you said this?'”

“He’s always welcome on the show to explain. Maybe he’ll come,” Carlson noted further.

But about a half-hour later, Graham appeared on “Hannity” to complain about President Joe Biden’s genuinely chaotic, deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan, in which 13 U.S. service members were killed by a suicide bomber last week before the Monday pull-out deadline.

In his interview with Hannity, Graham followed the host’s lead and agreed that Biden’s actions were impeachable offenses.

“I think it’s dereliction of duty,” Graham told Hannity at one point, adding that Biden and his administration are “lying through their teeth” about Afghanistan generally. Graham also asserted Biden was lying when he said “he was locked into getting out because of the Trump plan.”

Last week, Carlson rapped Graham in the final minute of his show before handing it off to Hannity.

After discussing the fact that, behind the scenes, the “radical” Biden has managed to get an alarming number of leftist judicial nominees approved by the Senate, Carlson ripped Graham for supporting nearly all of them.

“The most radical president of our lifetimes gets the most judges confirmed thanks to Lindsey Graham,” Carlson said, noting that Graham “spent most of last year begging for your money” to get reelected, but now has “no problem installing judges who hate his constituents.”

“Why are conservatives continuing to promote him and allowing him to continue to sit on the Judiciary Committee?” Carlson asked.

He ended his show with this before his hand-off: “We would love to ask that question of Lindsey Graham himself. We have asked him many times to come on the show, but he refuses because he’s afraid and that’s a shame. That would be a very interesting, fact-based conversation.”

Again, about a half-hour later, Graham appeared as a guest on Hannity’s program, where he frequently appears and hammered the Biden administration’s pullout from Afghanistan.
