The Biden administration is pushing two fronts in the information war over the humiliating exit from Afghanistan, given the surprising response from much of the same media cabal that helped elect President Joe Biden in the first place.
The first strategy is to pivot to the reasons why Biden ordered a withdrawal from the Central Asian country, shifting away from the disastrous exit strategy the president’s overseeing — a strategy that’s not going well because many in the media refuse to take the bait, after gladly gulping down what the administration fed them just a few short months ago. Even Fox News’ Tucker Carlson is befuddled over this unexpected turn of events.
The second strategy is to attack those in the media who’ve suddenly forgotten their role in propping up the 78-year-old president some fear is exhibiting more and more signs of serious cognitive decline, and this is where journalist and former television host Megyn Kelly comes into play.
Kelly responded about a succinctly as one can, using four words to call out Matthew Dowd for carrying Biden’s water — odd how a growing number of former George W. Bush disciples are turning out to trash Republicans.
“Way over the top and unconnected to a perspective on the issue from the beginning,” Dowd told CNN’s Brian Stelter on Sunday, speaking on the media’s coverage.
“We should judge it on the data of what’s happened and not by anecdotes, and sometimes the press has a tendency to judge things by anecdotes and not the data,” he said. “And the data for the last week shows Joe Biden has basically gotten 30,000 people out of Afghanistan without a single loss of an American life.”
“Of course. Chef’s kiss,” Kelly tweeted, in response to a post on Dowd’s remarks.
The 30,000 claim includes going back to July, as noted by Secretary of State Antony Blinken. And there have been no American deaths, but the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense said seven Afghans were killed in crowds near the Kabul airport Saturday, according to Reuters.
The “over the top” claim was in response to a Huffington Post piece that said Team Biden felt “some major outlets are adopting a pro-war stance.”
“Biden and his allies are furious with what they see as reporters’ and pundits’ unduly hawkish coverage of the exit,” the partisan left-wing website lamented on Friday.
The fact that some in the media have suddenly rediscovered their journalist integrity and are actually reporting the news still pales in comparison to what’s happening on the ground in Afghanistan, beginning with hundreds of millions of dollars in U.S. weapons and equipment now in the hands of the Taliban.
Hell, the primitive fighting force even mocked the iconic Iwo Jima photo from World War Two while wearing U.S. gear!
U.S. Embassy staff in Kabul are also “deeply disheartened” by what’s going on.
According to NBC News, which cited a State Department diplomatic cable sent on Saturday, the staff is feeling “a sense of betrayal and distrust in the U.S. government.”
The staff highlighted the chaos outside the airport, which includes heat exhaustion, a crush of people, and the brutality of Taliban fighters at various checkpoints set up.
“It would be better to die under the Taliban’s bullet” than face the crowds again, one staff member was quoted as saying in the cable. Another said, “Happy to die here, but with dignity and pride.”

It’s good for his punditry business…can’t give a honest take or the MSM gigs dry up.

Nope. It’s not even close to over the top.

How can the coverage even approach the ‘top’ when it includes people falling off of airplanes?
