Fox News contributor and civil rights attorney Leo Terrell ripped into Joy Behar over her claiming the low approval ratings for Vice President Kamala Harris are driven by racism.
The Democrat is underwater in her approval rating, according to recent polling, and the liberal co-host of “The View” attributed that to her being a black woman, after co-host Whoopi Goldberg noted that the vice president’s ratings were as low as has been seen since the 1970s.
(Former Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned in 1973 after he pleaded no contest to a felony charge of tax evasion after a lengthy investigation. Former President Richard Nixon tapped Gerald Ford to replace him — Ford later pardoned Nixon, who resigned in disgrace after the Watergate fiasco.)
“What is different about her that we haven’t see before,” Behar asked, in a clip run by Fox & Friends. “What could it be? Oh, that’s right, she’s a woman and she’s black.”
Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in to say “it is all about race and gender.”
Shaking his head while laughing, Terrell responded to the clip by countering with Harris’ job performance, pointing to the “disaster at the southern border.”
“She was responsible. She was the White House point person on the southern border. The American voter is saying she’s doing a horrible job,” he said. “But let me tell you what’s so insulting about that, those numbers and the statement made by Joy Behar.”
“She just threw over half of this country under the bus by accusing them of being racist,” Terrell continued. “That’s insulting. It is a statement, it’s a conclusion without a fact.”
The civil rights attorney pointed to the internal numbers behind the polling.
“There are black people, brown people, white people, yellow people, they don’t like Kamala Harris’ job performance,” he explained. “So is Joy Behar calling every one of all different colors, ethnicities, racist? That’s what I’m talking about. For her to have that national platform and make a illogical, racist statement, she just threw over half of America under the bus.”
Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt also noted that Harris polled in single digits when running for president — she dropped out of the 2020 Democratic primary before the Iowa caucus, without a single vote being cast — before asking Terrell if he agreed with The View’s Meghan McCain that Harris has not handled the border crisis well.
“Absolutely,” he replied. “Let’s be very clear, here are the facts that Joy Behar will not consider. You correctly stated she was running for president, she was below — she had small numbers in California as a favorite son, and she drops out of the race. She was unpopular in California. And, again, you cannot ignore the southern border. It is a total disaster.”
“The biggest problem is this: Joy Behar of The View will ignore her job performance and pull out the easiest argument for Democrats, the race card,” Terrell added. “By using the race card, they’re attacking all Americans of different colors and different ethnicities.”
Earhardt suggested that some women who voted for President Biden did so because they were excited about having a female vice president, but are now disappointed with Harris.
As for what Harris can do to help her standing, Terrell said she can start by “acting like a vice president.”
“Perform like a vice president and accomplishing something,” he said. “Let’s be very clear from. From Jan. 20th of this year up until today, what has she done? Joy Behar and them never listed any accomplishments simply because there aren’t any. She has accomplished nothing, and the American public, they get it. They don’t see anything that she’s accomplished and, therefore, she has those underwater numbers.”
“Let me tell you right now,” he concluded. “If Joy Behar is accusing everyone of being a racist, then I’m a racist. Because I don’t agree with her.”
