‘Next-level gaslighting’: Dan Crenshaw shuts down former Obama advisor over jab hesitancy claims

U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw clapped back at former Obama adviser David Axelrod for disingenuously blaming Republicans for vaccine hesitancy and for those who have died from COVID-19, calling it “next-level gaslighting.”

Axelrod bellied up to the pandemic bar following Alabama’s Republican Gov. Kay Ivey stating, “It’s time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the regular folks. It’s the unvaccinated folks that are letting us down.”

“It’s late for those who unnecessarily have lost their lives because of disinformation and the timidity of some on the Right but the shift in tone in the past few days has been striking,” he posited.

Crenshaw pounced, claiming on Twitter, “Next-level gaslighting by the left and their friends in the press who want everyone to forget that they were undermining public trust in a vaccine before it was even developed.”

He was referring to Vice President Kamala Harris’ now infamous quote where she stated, “If the public health professionals, if Dr. [Anthony] Fauci if the doctors tell us that we should take it, then I’ll be first in line to take it. But if Donald Trump tells us that we should take it — then I’m not taking it.” That quote did not age well for Harris and Democrats would rather everyone forget she ever said it.

Harris also said at the State of the Union in 2020, “Well, I think that’s going to be an issue for all of us. I will say that I would not trust Donald Trump. And it would have to be a credible source of information that talks about the efficacy and the reliability of whatever he’s talking about. I will not take his word for it. He wants us to inject bleach. I — no, I will not take his word.”

President Joe Biden’s previous quotes on vaccines are also problematic, “The way he (Trump) talks about the vaccine is not particularly rational. He’s talking about it being ready, he’s going to talk about moving it quicker than the scientists think it should be moved … People don’t believe that he’s telling the truth, therefore they’re not at all certain they’re going to take the vaccine. And one more thing: If and when the vaccine comes, it’s not likely to go through all the tests that need to be done, and the trials that are needed to be done.”

Perhaps most damning of all for Biden was a quote he made on Sept. 7, 2020,  saying: “Charting a clear path of science-based vaccines, free from politics. I get asked the question: ‘If the president announced tomorrow we have a vaccine, would you take it?’ Only if it was completely transparent, that other experts in the country could look at it, only if we knew all of what went into it. Because so far, nothing he’s told us has been true.”

Axelrod’s sideways slap at conservatives over vaccinations follows the news that conservative radio host Phil Valentine in Tennessee has contracted the coronavirus and has been hospitalized in critical condition. His family claims that he now regrets not getting the vaccine and it appears that this is yet another incident that Democrats such as Axelrod are looking to take advantage of.

Valentine has COVID pneumonia and needs breathing assistance but is not on a ventilator, Radio Online reported.

“Phil would like for his listeners to know that while he has never been an ‘anti-vaxer’ he regrets not being more vehemently ‘Pro-Vaccine,’ and looks forward to being able to more vigorously advocate that position as soon as he is back on the air, which we all hope will be soon,” his family remarked in their statement.

“Phil & his family would like for all of you to know that he loves ya’ll and appreciates your concern, thoughts & prayers more than you will ever know. Please continue to pray for his recovery and please go get vaccinated!” the statement added.

A number of high-profile Republicans have come out recently backing vaccinations. Fox News issued a public service announcement promoting COVID vaccinations and a number of their hosts, such as Steve Doocy and Sean Hannity, have openly urged viewers to get inoculated.

But that hasn’t stopped Democrats and leftists from continually blaming conservatives for COVID deaths even though those such as Harris and Biden were the ones who originally balked at getting vaccinated simply because Trump led the way in the fight against the pandemic.

Conservatives see what Axelrod and the Democrats are doing here and they find it appalling:
