Hannity tears into Olympic Committee for proposing a redesign of Old Glory: ‘We already have a flag’

Fox News host Sean Hannity ripped into the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Monday night over its plan to rework the American flag for its logo, outrageously replacing the 50 stars with 5 stars and redesigning the stripes.

The US Olympic and Paralympic Committee decided to send out an online survey to US Olympians and Paralympian associations on July 6. They requested that they indicate on the survey their approval for modifying the American flag to be used on official USOPC materials, according to Hannity.

“Here is my message – stop wasting your team’s time and money with a redesign of the American flag – it’s an awful idea,” he harshly admonished them. “Because our Stars & Stripes should be the only flag representing this country at the Olympics and the Paralympics. So many amazing athletes and champions that we are all so proud of and they represent the United States of America.”

Hannity made the point that Olympians who represent the United States also represent the flag. “We don’t need your new flag. We already have our own.” Hannity stated. “And with the exception of a few far-left work socialists, most Americans love their country.”

He called on the committee to rethink what they are proposing and to keep their hands off any redesign of the American flag.

“If they approve this new design, yeah, that would strip the US flag or the flag of at least most of the stars and stripes,” Hannity continued.

The Olympic Committee informed Hannity that there will be no changes to the US flag icon for the Japanese or Chinese Olympiads in 2021 and 2022. However, that seems to indicate that there is the possibility it will change after that.

A spokesperson for the USOC named Kate Hartman vaguely told Fox News that they are in the early design stages of creating the logo and are brainstorming a number of concepts with their stakeholders. No specifics were evidently provided.

“We are in the very early stages of potentially exploring new brand executions for the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee,” the organization noted in a statement released to Fox News.

“It is common practice in creative development to share a variety of concepts with stakeholders to [elicit] reaction and feedback that will then be used to determine next steps. What has been sent to you is just one of dozens of ideas shared in this brainstorming and surveying process,” they noncommittedly explained.

This move by the Olympic Committee follows an incident that involved Olympic hammer thrower Gwen Berry turning her back on the American flag during the national anthem. It is another sign of disrespect for our nation in the eyes of many Americans.

Individuals on social media don’t want their flag “redesigned” for any reason:
