Joe Biden appears to admit addiction in text to son Hunter: ‘It’s a disease from mommy and me’

Five members of Joe Biden’s family have done stints in rehabilitation centers, with the president noting in a text message to his son he may have inherited an addiction gene, according to revealing text messages obtained from Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop.

The Daily Mail reported Wednesday that Biden’s “brother Frank, children Hunter and Ashley, his niece Caroline and his late son’s widow who also became Hunter’s lover, Hallie,” all have had issues with addiction and had spent time at rehabilitation centers, sometimes after they were ordered to go by a court.

In one text to son Hunter, Biden referred to his son’s battles with addiction as a “disease from mommy and me,” the Daily Mail reported.

“The revelations shed a new personal light on the president’s previous war on drugs, criticizing George Bush Sr’s 1980s War on Drugs for being ‘not tough enough’ and writing punitive laws with harsher sentences for drug crimes when he was head of the Senate Judiciary Committee in the late 1980s and early 1990s,” the outlet reported, citing materials from the laptop.

As for himself, Joe Biden reportedly shuns alcohol after seeing how it affected his favorite uncle with whom he lived as a child, an October 2020 New York Times profile said.

Hunter Biden’s issues with addiction to smoking crack as well as his relations with prostitutes and other untoward behaviors were all revealed last year shortly before the November election when a copy of his abandoned laptop hard drive was given to the New York Post by Rudy Giuliani, who at the time was serving as then-President Donald Trump’s personal attorney.

According to texts saved to the laptop, Hallie Biden, brother Beau Biden’s widow who became romantically involved with Hunter after Beau passed away from brain cancer in 2015, has been to a rehabilitation center at least four times at a cost of about $100,000. And some of those costs were allegedly paid by Joe Biden.

During an argument in 2018 between Hunter and Hallie, the president’s son texted her saying, “You didn’t stay longer than 10 days away from family at any one of the 4 times you went to rehab.”

Additional texts from 40-year-old Ashley Biden indicate she tried to warn her brother against having a relationship with Hallie while also indicating she did a stint in rehab, suggesting his interest in his brother’s widow was fueled by addiction.

“I have my outpatient program until 8 pm but will call you after…I thought i was ‘in love’ until I got sober + realized it was all a joke,” Ashley wrote. “This disease is cunning + baffling. And will f*** with you like no other. Now sober- I realized how much damage I did + how much my mind played tricks on me.”

Meanwhile, during his Wednesday evening program, Fox News’ Sean Hannity reported that, according to information gleaned from the same laptop, Hunter complained about having to pay many of his father’s bills including during his time as vice president.

Citing a column from New York Post writer Miranda Devine, who has a forthcoming book revealing many more details obtained from the laptop, Hannity noted that while Hunter wanted to be an artist or a writer, “he was assigned by his father the role of family breadwinner through lucrative grace-and-favor jobs and sweetheart deals facilitated by Joe’s network of connections in Delaware and, later, throughout the world.”

Inordinate amounts of untraceable money are what largely fueled Hunter’s crack addition, she writes, but while the money was good, Hunter was expected to use half of whatever he earned to support his dad.

“I hope you all can do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family for 30 years,” Hunter said in a 2019 text message to daughter Naomi. “It’s really hard. But don’t worry, unlike Pop [Joe], I won’t make you give me half your salary.”

Devine went on to admit that there is no direct evidence of these financial transactions on Hunter’s laptop. But she did say there is evidence he paid his father’s AT&T bill, which amounted to about $190 a month.

“We know from an e-mail on June 5, 2010, with the subject ‘JRB bills’ to Hunter from Eric Schwerin, his business partner at Rosemont Seneca, that he was expected to foot hefty bills to Wilmington contractors for maintenance and upkeep of his father’s palatial lakefront property. Joe’s initials are JRB, for Joseph Robinette Biden,” Devine wrote.
