Hamas allegedly releases statement praising Ilhan Omar, but asks her to describe events ‘accurately’

The terrorist organization Hamas has allegedly released an official statement informing Democratic Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar that they “appreciate” her “stance on justice” but they are requesting she be accurate and leave them out of it when attacking the U.S. and Israel.

Not only was Omar attacked by Republicans and Jewish Democrats for her statements on Monday, she was also chastised by Hamas for lumping them together with the U.S., Israel, and the Taliban and not stating things in a light favorable to the antisemitic terrorists.

Hamas spokesman Basem Naim said in a statement on Friday that Omar’s comments were “very surprising.” He accused her of “equating the victim with the executioner.”

“We appreciate Mrs. Ilhan Omar’s stances in defending justice and the rights of the oppressed around the world, foremost of which are the just rights of our Palestinian people, but we deplore this unfair combination that is contrary to justice and international law,” Naim proclaimed on behalf of Hamas.

Naim contends that the U.S. is the aggressor in Afghanistan and that Israel is an occupier of Palestinian land. He posits that Hamas has the legitimate and “inherent right to resist… by all available means.” He further stated that the “Palestinian people have been living under the Zionist occupation for more than seven decades.”

Given that stance, Hamas expects Omar “to describe things correctly and accurately,” the spokesman stated.

The controversy began when Omar asked Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing about U.S. objections to the International Criminal Court.

“We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the US, Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban,” she stated while arguing that there must be “the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity.”

On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi surprisingly condemned Omar’s statements. She noted that “drawing false equivalencies between democracies like the U.S. and Israel and groups that engage in terrorism like Hamas and the Taliban foments prejudice and undermines peace and security for all.”

“We welcome the clarification by Congresswoman Omar that there is no moral equivalency between the U.S. and Israel and Hamas and the Taliban,” Pelosi continued. However, the Speaker reportedly did not believe that Omar should be reprimanded.

“To be clear: the conversation was about accountability for specific incidents regarding those ICC cases, not a moral comparison between Hamas and the Taliban and the US and Israel,” Omar posited in a statement. “I was in no way equating terrorist organizations with democratic countries with well-established judicial systems.”

Fellow “Squad” member Rep. Rashida Tlaib defended Omar against the “relentless, exclusive tone policing” by the House Democrat leadership and claimed that “freedom of speech doesn’t exist for Muslim women in Congress.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is also a Squad member, stated in a tweet that she was “sick & tired” of the attacks against Omar from members of the Democratic Party.

“Pretty sick & tired of the constant vilification, intentional mischaracterization, and public targeting of @IlhanMN coming from our caucus,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote. “They have no concept for the danger they put her in by skipping private conversations & leaping to fueling targeted news cycles around her.”

Another Squad member, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, also rallied to Omar’s defense, calling criticism against her “bad faith attempts” to take her words “out of context.” She tweeted: “Imagine if Congress was as outraged by what Palestinians endure daily.”

Josh Hammer, who is the opinion editor at Newsweek, sarcastically went after Omar on Twitter: “Hopefully @IlhanMN sleeps well knowing that Hamas appreciates her stance on justice.”

Another commenter on Twitter, Nathan Wurtzel, summed it up perfectly: “This actually is cover for Omar. LOL.”

Political analyst Becket Adams from the DC Examiner nailed it: “lmaooooooo when even Hamas is like, ‘stop helping.'”
