Ted Cruz eviscerates Biden for ‘crawling into bed with Russia and the enemies of America’

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) nailed President Biden on Wednesday over his response to the Colonial Pipeline hack from within Russia and then greenlighting the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline that will give Russia massive control over Eastern Europe.

Fox News host Sean Hannity noted that Biden gave a waiver to Russian President Vladimir Putin to construct the pipeline which will ostensibly supply Berlin, Germany with energy. That is a move that former President Trump never approved of, but Biden has. The President has done so despite bipartisan opposition in Congress and ardent appeals from Eastern European governments.

Senator Cruz went on to address how Biden had canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline, killing thousands of jobs in the process: “It’s absolutely crazy what Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are doing. On Day One in office, Joe Biden shut down the Keystone Pipeline. He destroyed 11,000 high-paying jobs, including 8,000 union jobs. Then Biden sat by and allowed Russian hackers to hack the Colonial Pipeline producing gas lines up and down the eastern seaboard… He sat by while they paid a ransom to Russian hackers.”

“And now his reward to Russia for Russian hackers shutting down a major infrastructure pipeline on the Eastern Seaboard, today he signed a waiver greenlighting the NORDSTREAM-2 pipeline. A pipeline from Russia to Germany,” Cruz continued.

“Congress has twice passed bipartisan sanctions to stop this pipeline. I authored those sanctions. We stopped it. For a year, it was shut down. It was a piece of metal at the bottom of the ocean. Putin began rebuilding the pipeline right after Biden was elected. Today, he issued a waiver,” Cruz reported. “And basically what Joe Biden has decided is pipelines in America, bad. Jobs in America, bad. Pipelines in Russia, good. Jobs in Russia, good.”

“And this is exactly backward. It is asinine. And four months into it, Joe Biden is crawling in bed with Putin and Russia and the enemies of America. It doesn’t make any sense,” the Senator proclaimed.

Republican lawmakers immediately accused the Biden administration of gifting Russian President Vladimir Putin with a major political victory. Even Democrats urged the White House to reconsider, and the Kremlin called the announcement a “positive signal.”

Secretary of State Antony Blinken chose to waive sanctions against the Russian-owned company behind the pipeline as well as its German CEO, Matthias Warnig, and other corporate officers. According to a State Department report, he claimed that sanctions “would negatively impact U.S. relations with Germany, the EU, and other European allies and partners.”

Warnig, who is a longtime ally of Vladimir Putin’s, is a former East German Stasi intelligence officer and has served on the supervisory boards of a number of major Russian companies.

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) who is the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee decried the move in a scathing statement: “I am opposed to the decision by the Biden administration to waive sanctions on NS2 AG and Matthias Warnig. I urge the administration to rip off the Band-Aid, lift these waivers, and move forward with the congressionally mandated sanctions,” Menendez stated. “The administration has said that the pipeline is a bad idea and that it is a Russian malign influence project. I share that sentiment, but fail to see how today’s decision will advance U.S. efforts to counter Russian aggression in Europe.”

Menendez asked, “What does the administration now expect from Germany after having made this significant concession to exercise the waiver?” He noted the decision “has created uncertainty in many corners of Europe and I expect to hear very soon from the administration on its plans moving forward.”

Cruz also addressed Biden’s destructive moves concerning the Mideast peace that was forged by former President Trump. Biden has sent aid to the Palestinians and has been a very weak supporter of our strongest ally, Israel.

“Hamas, the terrorists that are firing the rockets that you’re showing right now, they fired over 4,000 rockets into Israel. Every one of those rockets might as well have Joe Biden’s name written on the side of it. Because it is his weakness, his appeasement, his moral relativism, and ambiguity,” Cruz said sharply criticizing Biden. “He ought to stand up and say, rather than lecturing Netanyahu and rather than being arrogant and attacking our friends, he ought to say America stands with Israel, period; the end.”
