As widely expected, U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., was elected Friday to replace U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., to lead the House Republican Conference, the move coming after Cheney was ousted from the third-ranked leadership role earlier this week.
Suffice it to say, the anti-Trump mob is going bananas over the development.
Stefanik said afterward that she’s “truly honored” to earn the support of her fellow Republicans in the battle to “save our country” from the “radical Democrat Socialist agenda.” She also thanked former President Donald Trump in her remarks, calling him “a critical part of our Republican team.”
“I’m truly honored and humbled to earn your support to serve as our Republican Conference Chair,” Stefanik said. “I know we are all here to serve the people, the voters who place their trust and faith in us. You have put yours in me to serve this Conference and I will never lose sight of that. I will always work my very hardest to earn your trust every day.”
“This will not be an easy job, but I know we are stronger when united as a team,” she added.

Stefanik said she has spent the last several weeks listening to the “feedback, goals and priorities” of GOP lawmakers, according to Fox News.
“Members of our conference have a simple and unifying goal — winning back the majority in 2022 to save our country from the radical Democrat Socialist agenda under Speaker Pelosi and President Biden,” the lawmaker said.
Trump released a statement congratulating Stefanik.

Harkening back to the American Revolution, Stefanik spoke of the battle that lies ahead for Republicans.
“At my home in Upstate New York, my husband and I live just a few miles from the Saratoga National Battlefield where 244 years ago, the founding of the Great American Experiment was in grave danger, hanging on by a thread as the prospects looked grim for those early patriots seeking to found a new country based on the ideals of liberty, freedom, and a limited government of the people, for the people, by the people,” she stated.
“Great Britain looked to finish off the war once and for all. But the American patriots were disciplined and steadfast in carrying out their mission. They were comprised of brave patriots from across the colonies, each one bringing a different skillset and attribute to the larger team,” she continued.
“The world watched closely as the Americans defied expectations and won — that victory at Saratoga for the Americans turned the tide of the Revolutionary War, and the rest is history,” Stefanik added. “How blessed we all are to live in the greatest nation in the world – the United States of America. And how humbled we are that we have the opportunity to save our great nation to make it better for all the American people.”
While Stefanik’s “goals” as conference chair include a “disciplined, unified message” from Republicans on key issues, Cheney continues to be as defiant as ever, slamming former President Donald Trump this week and vowing to do whatever it takes to keep him away from the Oval Office a second time — a line of attack that was well received by the liberal media.
As mentioned above, the left lost its collective mind over Stefanik being promoted to the new role.
Here’s a sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
.@EliseStefanik, once a moderate, sidled over to Trump to stave off a primary challenge. She told blatant lies about the 2020 election to explain her vote to overturn the results.
And now, she’s been rewarded.

Following her election as the House GOP’s new No. 3, @EliseStefanik says she wants to “thank President Trump for his support. He is a critical part of our Republican team.”
Note that Stefanik is calling Trump “president,” not former president.

“House Republicans are united in our fight to save our country from the radical Socialist Democrat agenda.”

Perhaps Pelosi should bring to the floor, every day, a popular, mainstream part of the Biden agenda, and force House Republicans to vote No day after day?— Bill Kristol (@BillKristol) May 14, 2021
Starting off like a total loon.
Very on brand.

“Socialism is a scare word they have hurled at every advance the people have made in the last 20 years,” President Harry Truman said in 1952. “Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.”https://t.co/3Y29B1ccyA https://t.co/LwKi6zpXcH
