Seething Joy Reid lashes out at ‘Tuckems’ Carlson, but only proves him right after he dubs her ‘race lady’

Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid took exception to Fox News host Tucker Carlson having taken to calling her the “race lady,” sometimes without mentioning her actual name, which is understandable given that her show’s ratings could desperately use every plug of her name it can get.

Truth be told, since a talent-devoid Reid was gifted a primetime show on the liberal network, her weekday offerings have gained a reputation for being fact-challenged and for race-baiting, which is what prompted Carlson to call a spade a spade.

Reid’s liberal media allies have taken to defending her against Carlson’s effective jabs, which apparently prompted her to finally address the matter. Given that he recently noted how Reid has lived “an unusually privileged life,” there’s added motivation for her to maintain street cred as a ranking member of the oppressed.

In a painful monologue — someone seems to have wrongfully convinced Reid that she actually has comedic talent — MSNBC’s sole black primetime anchor moved to make light of Carlson’s portrayal of her.

“Just for the record, I don’t spend a lot of time watching Fox News, or the ‘BS factory,’ as CNN’s Jim Acosta colorfully dubbed them this weekend,” Reid said Monday. “Personally, I prefer my news and information to be grounded in reality, rather than monetizing my amygdala to keep me on edge and buying MyPillows and gold.”

After calling attention to the aforementioned allies, she offered this dog of a line.

“Why would he call me that? I used to run track in high school but honestly, I’m not that fast. What else could it be? Hmm,” Reid said, before playing various clips of the Fox News host using the term “race lady.”

Naturally, she doesn’t show the clips long enough for her low-information viewers to get a grasp of the context behind Carlson’s remarks.

She ending the montage with a clip of Carlson saying “the race lady on MSNBC took a quick break from haranguing whitey yesterday,” while mocking Reid for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

“Did he say whitey? Oh, honey, Tuckems, is this really about me or is it about you fixating on race?” she said. “I mean when you recently went off on me for continuing to mask up post-vaccine while jogging in crowded Central Park, you weirdly threw in my attending Harvard.”

The remark about Harvard clearly a dig at a supposedly intelligent person wearing not one, but two masks while jogging outdoors, despite being fully vaccinated.

But for a person who looks at life through a prism of color, it’s all about her level of melanin.

“Now I don’t know, maybe I’m sensitive to this stuff but it felt like kind of like a dog whistle,” she said. “I mean, did you want to go to Harvard? Did they reject you? And you think, oh yeah they let ‘the Race Lady’ in, bleh, affirmative action, bleh!”

The irony here, considering that she proceeds to boast about how smart she is and this being the reason she was admitted to an Ivy League school, is that Reid is too dense to understand that she just qualified Carlson’s charge.

Speaking of haranguing whitey, Reid added, “Schools search for smart people from diverse backgrounds so that these schools won’t be as dry as the major sports leagues were before they desegregated. See?”

Reid proceeds to attack Carlson’s intellect — a losing proposition — before trying to suggest the host of the most popular cable news show on television has had a really bad career.

Seriously?

“And back to the whole race thing,” Reid continued. “I’m not one who spools out over my neighborhood changing like I’m some segregationist housewife from the 1950s. That would be you, Tuckems. And I’m not the one spouting a conspiracy theory that white people will be replaced by a Democratic Party conspiracy to import nonwhite people to outnumber them.”

To deny that Democrats look to limit the influence white Anglo-Saxon Protestants have on American politics is to deny reality.

Moving beyond Carlson, Reid claimed the reason she doubles up on masks while out jogging is because she doesn’t “trust” that the people who listen to Carlson “are taking precautions against COVID.”

Never mind that she’s has been vaccinated – – does Reid not believe the vaccines are effective?

Getting more serious, Reid concluded by launching a torrid attack on “the Tuckers of our country” — see white people — blaming them for the pandemic.

“People like you and your friends, and the BS factory are keeping us steeped in COVID sickness and rage and paranoia,” she said. “And the ways in which you, Li’l Tucker, are making America worse are why I will continue to keep my mask on in a crowd.”

“And we’ll have more on your endless COVID hell, the endless COVID hell that the Tuckers of our country who, by the way, are the absolute worst, are helping to create,” Reid ended.

Yes, race lady indeed.
