Fox News’ Tucker Carlson laughed hysterically at Rep. Ted Lieu during a Wednesday segment of his show over a tweet the California Democrat posted last week that appeared to prove the host’s earlier points about “voter replacement.”
Earlier this month, Carlson put forth a theory that Democrats favored less immigration enforcement and ‘open borders’ policies because they are attempting to supplant American citizens with tens of millions of “new voters” who will cast ballots for them in perpetuity as payback for allowing them to enter illegally and become U.S. citizens.
The so-call “replacement voters” theory greatly angered the left, as well as many congressional Democrats who viewed his comments as racist.
“Now, I know that the left and all the little gatekeepers on Twitter become literally hysterical if you use the term ‘replacement,’ if you suggest that the Democratic Party is trying to replace the current electorate, the voters now casting ballots, with new people, more obedient voters from the Third World,” Carlson said. “But they become hysterical because that’s what’s happening, actually.”
Within a day, Lieu fired off a tweet in response to a similar statement about “native-born Americans” in a now-deleted tweet from Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) that appeared to prove the point that immigrants were ‘replacing’ voters born in the U.S.
Native-born Americans like you are no more American, and no less American, than an immigrant like me. And with every passing year, there will be more people who look like me in the US. You can’t stop it. So take your racist replacement theory and shove it,” Lieu wrote.
Carlson widely mocked Lieu Wednesday evening.
“When Ted Lieu speaks, you’re really seeing the Democratic party’s brain trust on display,” he said, noting that the Taiwan-born California Democrat and colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves is a Stanford University graduate who earned a law degree at Georgetown University.
“Perry was making an argument we have often made, because it’s true,” Carlson continued. “And that is that Democrats are using mass immigration to transform the country, to change who votes, so they can control who wins.”
He then began to read Lieu’s tweet, agreeing with the part about immigrants being no less American than those who are Native-born, before continuing in a mocking tone.
“In other words, you’re being replaced and there’s nothing you can do about it! So shut up!” Tucker continued before breaking into his signature laugh over a chron that read, “Thanks Ted Lieu For Making Our Argument For Us.”
“Luckily, with people like Ted Lieu in charge, we’re not gonna get a lot done,” Tucker concluded. “Guy’s a moron.”
