Fox commentators Geraldo Rivera and Dan Bongino got into another heated fight on Sean Hannity’s show Wednesday night over the Minnesota protests and police officers. Rivera simply lost it in the segment and wound up calling Bongino a “son of a b*tch” and a “punk” during the argument.
This was the second bitter confrontation this week between Rivera and Bongino. The war of words started on Monday night when Rivera angrily called the police shooting in Minnesota an “act of grotesque negligence.” On Wednesday, Rivera was determined to respond even further to Bongino on policing. He brought up his years of reporting on police officers and stated that he had “been to too many cop funerals to even think about.”
Rivera referenced the officer-involved shooting of Daunte Wright and stated that “this was reckless or grossly negligent behavior” and then said that the Taser should be “the first weapon of choice for a cop.” He suggested a switch in how police wear their weapons and Tasers. Officers wear their guns on the right or dominant side and their Tasers on their left or non-dominant side. Rivera wanted them to switch sides which, according to Bongino, could potentially give easier access to an officer’s gun by a perpetrator if they wound up in a fight.
Bongino was momentarily stunned by the suggestion and replied, “I don’t even know how to respond to that. Give me a second to digest the stupidity of that.”

“How about responding with facts?” Rivera angrily demanded. “You’re nothing but a name-caller! You’re a cheap shot artist!”
Bongino was not intimidated by the left-leaning Rivera: “There’s a big difference between reporting on a baseball game and playing it, Geraldo. You’ve never worn a badge, period. Not interested in your reporting on it, because reporters deal with facts, and you brought the race card into it the other night when we had this debate, despite having no facts to back that up.”
Then Rivera threw out a contested statistic: “Blacks are twice as likely to be shot by cops as whites” and asked, “How about that fact?”
“They did an actual study on police contacts and found no systemic racism,” Bongino replied.
“I know more than you! What do you know?” Rivera screamed. “What, did you have a ten-minute career as a cop? You’ve been running for office for the last 20 years.” Bongino was an NYPD police officer for four years and then served as a Secret Service agent. He ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2012, 2014, and 2016.
“Take a Valium,” Bongino said mocking Rivera. “You’ve really gotta pipe down. My gosh, you’re a 70-year-old man!”

Bongino contended that Rivera’s argument was incorrect and baseless: “Maybe a little bit of humble pie. Back off. Stop telling everyone about your great reporting. Deal with facts, and realize you don’t know what you think you know. You just know what you think you reported on.”
Rivera proceeded to lose it even further and accused Bongino of personally attacking him: “What Dan Bongino does is make me the issue. Is anything he has just said — is it useful on this topic?”
He went on to call for placating the public over the actions of the police: “What we need to do is assure a very restive public that cops aren’t out to get them. We have to reassure the black mothers.”
Later, Bongino calmly shot back at Rivera once again that he was promoting “a race narrative with no data to back it up at all.”
“You only accept facts that you agree with,” Rivera said accusingly.
“There are hundreds of thousands of police officers and millions of police contacts are with black Americans in the course of each day. If there was a plague of police officers hunting black men down at night, then — I don’t understand — if that’s happening, where is this massive body count?” Bongino said, challenging Rivera.
An enraged Rivera shouted back: “This man is why they have that rage. This man with his baloney. This is baloney!”
“He’s injecting race into the argument because he has nothing else!” Bongino claimed.
Bongino posited that Rivera wanted to “see the country burn.” And in response, Rivera shouted, “I want to see the country burn?! You son of a b*tch! I want to see the country burn, you punk?! You’re nothing but a punk!”
Bongino got the last word in though and told Rivera: “You wouldn’t tell me that to my face.”
Rivera was smacked down on Twitter over his meltdown:
A half second extra is a critical delay! So when cops started hitting the wrong people trying to shoot with their less accurate, non-dominant hand would Heraldo say it’s no big deal? 🤦♂️
Geraldo is a child with no impulse control who can’t keep his big trap shut for one minute!— LoneWolf907 (@LoneWolf907) April 15, 2021
Geraldo is intolerable. Wearing a weapon on the weak side will also serve to get twice as many cops killed. He’s a moron. Fox needs to lose this clown as these are serious subjects; and Bongino is right – he’s purposefully inflaming these situations for his own self-promotion.

Geraldo needs to go back to opening gangster tombs. He was far more successful at that. Btw, my money is on Bongino.

I would rather watch a seasoned, former agent than a blow hard attorney. I used to like Geraldo but he’s gotten too invested in his own hype.

It’s so sad to see Geraldo, loose his mind.
