Kamala Harris bursts out awkward laugh when asked about visiting the border: ‘Not today!’

Vice President Kamala Harris inexplicably and inappropriately laughed outside Air Force One when asked by a reporter on Monday if she would be visiting the border to address the developing immigration crisis there.

Harris instinctively deflected and cackled before answering the reporter with an awkward: “Not today!” She also vaguely said: “But I have before and I’m sure I’ll do it again.” The White House still apparently refuses to call the humanitarian and security catastrophe on the southern U.S. border a “crisis.” The response was issued on her trip to Jacksonville, Florida to promote the distribution of the coronavirus vaccine. Biden also said he would visit the border “at some point” when asked on Sunday about it.

The vice president said that the Biden administration would work to make conditions for migrants on the border better, but then pivoted and blamed the Trump administration for leaving them in a “very challenging situation.”

“We’ve got to treat this issue in a way that is reflective of our values as Americans and do it in a way that is fair and is humane, but we have to meet the moment,” she declared. “There’s a lot of work going into that.“

At a press conference on Monday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki labeled the border crisis as a “circumstance.” She stated that children fleeing persecution in other countries “is not a crisis.”

“Children presenting at our border who are fleeing violence, who are fleeing prosecution, who are fleeing terrible situations is not a crisis,” Psaki stated defensively. “We feel it is our responsibility to humanely approach this circumstance and make sure they are treated and put into conditions that are safe.”

There was little media reaction to Harris’ faux pas. But her response went viral on social media:

And Harris didn’t do herself any favors by bringing back to life a quote from Ronald Reagan:

Many Republicans are claiming the situation on the border is spiraling out of control and that the Biden administration is to blame.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) sent a letter to President Biden on Monday following the administration’s refusal to grant press access this week as Cruz and 14 other senators visit the border and seek to gain access to inspect facilities housing unaccompanied immigrant minors who entered the country illegally.

Cruz ripped Biden and told him that although the administration doesn’t admit there is a crisis, “the American people are beginning to understand the gravity of the situation.”

“But it is not enough for members of the Senate to see what is happening — the American people must see,” Cruz wrote. “That is why I requested that members of the media be allowed to join us. But your administration clearly and emphatically refused to offer press access.”

“This is outrageous and hypocritical,” declared Cruz. He mocked the administration’s vow of “transparency.” The senator flatly accused Biden of “hiding the truth from the American people” and excoriated him for blocking the media from attending the trip with the 15 senators.

“Denying the press the ability to observe, film, and report on the conditions at the border is not openness or transparency — it is hiding the truth from the American people,” posited Cruz. “The press and the American people deserve more than denials and excuses from a podium.”

“They deserve to see and understand the crisis for themselves with the help of reporters who are free and independent from your administration,” charged Cruz.

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) produced photos on Monday that show a packed migrant facility in Donna, Texas with unaccompanied minors in blankets on mats. Many migrants were locked inside clear pens that resembled cages.

Reportedly, there has been no comment from the Biden administration on the leaked photos and videos.
