Whoopi Goldberg’s one-word reaction and facial expression in response to Meghan McCain’s rant on Meghan Markle’s Oprah Winfrey interview during Tuesday’s episode of The View is going viral on social media.
Goldberg’s face and pretty much non-reaction said it all. In the segment, the co-hosts discussed Piers Morgan storming off the set of “Good Morning Britain” after being criticized for his comments on Meghan Markle’s recent interview with Oprah Winfrey. Morgan has now severed ties with the show. Then they turned to the Markle tell-all.
McCain seemed to be comparing herself to Markle concerning leaked stories that were meant to harm those that are in the limelight. She defended Markle in her stance against the Royal Family.
“I want to take this time to encourage all Americans to visit Mount Vernon and see why monarchs are stupid,” said The View panelist. “The American experiment is the way to go and if we have two American women — Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey — who are singlehandedly finishing what George Washington and our revolutionary counterparts did, I’m all for it,” McCain stated.

In response to that rant, Goldberg was speechless for a solid three deafening seconds and then just said, “OK” with a look of utter confusion as to what McCain meant.
LA-based comedian Justin Martindale nailed it, “It’s 2021 and we are all Whoopi.” The tweet has been liked more than 137,000 times since it was posted. Goldberg’s facial expression has now become an instant meme.
“She doesn’t even know her history,” Rogervanoo criticized McCain on Twitter. “The Revolution wasn’t started by George Washington. It was started by the Continental Congress. And Washington won the war with the help of the French.”

“In no way am I comparing any of my life experiences to Meghan Markle … but, I do know what it’s like to be on a TV show or a political campaign where people are leaking stories about you with the sole intention to make you look bad, and let me tell you, it would do a number on your mental health like you wouldn’t believe. It will make you feel isolated. It will make you feel paranoid,” McCain commented.
A number of people were incredulous that McCain would compare herself to Markle.
“The only thing they have in common is their name … If the staff and producers liked you, those stories wouldn’t be getting out,” one person told Page Six. “You don’t see them getting out about anyone else. No one’s running around talking about Whoopi. It’s shocking how [McCain] behaves. If she doesn’t want things leaked, don’t do things to get leaked.”
her whole rant is even funnier😭😂 pic.twitter.com/GzUbznfyMD

McCain later sent out a tweet addressing Goldberg’s viral response to her rant, stating: “I am extremely patriotic. I love the founding fathers. I don’t know why this is shocking or confusing for anyone has met me for even five seconds…”
