CNN skewered for ‘clown show’ interview with Gov. Whitmer that can’t even be explained

The sad thing about CNN, aside from the thought that viewers may actually believe what they are told, is that those who work there appear to see the network as a legitimate news outlet.

Those with discerning minds, on the other hand, have other ideas, based on the daily product CNN puts out. A prime example here is an interview Monday with Michigan’s authoritarian Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Referencing an anti-lockdown protest in Lansing back in April, CNN host Alisyn Camerota asked the Democratic governor if that may have been a “dry run” for the attack in January — while the screen chyron blared: “America on High Alert.”

“Do you now believe, in hindsight, that this was a dry run of some kind for what happened with the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6th? Do you believe this either planted the seed or was sort of a dress rehearsal?”

“Well, this certainly was the most visible example of extremism that has been fomenting in this nation,” Whitmer said in response. “And it was encouraged by the former White House, the misinformation, the encouragement, the normalizing of this kind of domestic terrorism.”

CNN is completely invested in selling the storming of the U.S. Capital earlier this month as an “insurrection,” an attempted violent overthrow of the U.S. government — this narrative being critical in Senate Democrats’ campaign to remove private citizen Donald Trump from an office he no longer holds.

If you are to believe this, you must accept that the “QAnon Shaman,” a shirtless man with reported mental health issues and allegedly a regular user of psychedelic drugs, wearing a horned bearskin headdress, was to assume the mantle of authority.

The narrative also goes a long way in the Biden administration’s recently declared war on “domestic extremism,” keeping in mind that for four years now, Trump supporters have been called Nazis, racists, bigots and nativists, among other things.

Having been the target of several men linked to a militia movement who were plotting to kidnap her (the plot was foiled ahead of time and those involved arrested), Whitmer makes for a useful prop in justifying the actions to be taken in this so-called “war.”

Social media users are smart enough to see the agenda at play here, with more than one reference to a “clown show.”

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
