As the rounding up of Trump supporters continues, FBI agents in Omaha have arrested WalkAway founder, social media sensation, and ardent Trump supporter Brandon Straka in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot… they claim he was inciting insurrection, but that’s not what he is charged with. Straka’s WalkAway campaign encouraged longtime Democrats to leave their party because it had betrayed them.
A federal charging document dated Jan. 20 charged Straka with disorderly conduct, knowingly entering and remaining on restricted grounds, and impeding police during civil disorder. According to the charges, Straka allegedly tweeted a 58-minute video of himself on Jan. 7 saying he had made his way through the crowd that breached the Capitol the day before and saw “nothing being broken” and “nobody committing any acts of violence.”
“My review of Straka’s Twitter account on January 11, did not find video or any other posts from January 6, 2021 relating directly to Straka’s actions at the U.S. Capitol,” the document states. “However, the FBI received tips from the public with screenshots of Straka’s Twitter activity from January 6, 2021.”
Straka reportedly made the following comments on Twitter on Jan. 6.:
“Patriots at the Capitol – HOLD. THE. LINE!!!!”
“I arrived at the Capitol a few hours ago as Patriots were storming from all sides. I was quite close to entering myself as police began tear-gassing us from the door. I inhaled tear gas & got it in my eyes. Patriots began exiting shortly after saying Congress had been cleared,” he also reportedly said.
“I’m completely confused. For 6-8 weeks everybody on the right has been saying ‘1776!’ & that if congress moves forward it will mean a revolution! So congress moves forward. Patriots storm the Capitol – now everybody is virtual signaling their embarrassment that this happened.”

“Also- be embarrassed & hide if you need to- but I was there. It was not Antifa at the Capitol. It was freedom loving Patriots who were DESPERATE to fight for the final hope of our Republic because literally nobody cares about them. Everyone else can denounce them. I will not,” Straka reportedly said.
“Perhaps I missed the part where it was agreed this would be a revolution of ice cream cones & hair-braiding parties to take our government back from lying, cheating globally interested swamp parasites. My bad.”
Brandon Straka, founder of the #WalkAway social media campaign, is now, best as I can tell, the first "Stop the Steal" speaker to be charged in the #CapitolRiot – although not in connection to either the Jan. 5 or 6 rallies. The document also says that the FBI received a tip from a relative of Straka’s saying they had seen a since-deleted video of him claiming he was “on the cusp” of entering the building and repeated, “We’re going in.” Many other tips were also sent to the FBI.
The witness later sent the FBI a link to an eight-minute video depicting Straka pushing forward with the crowd and “appear[ing] to get within several feet of the entrance to the U.S. Capitol.”

A far-left Twitter group that has been harassing Brandon Straka for months cheered his arrest on Monday. The “AwayWeWalk” group took credit for his arrest in a tweet: “We did it!” And another tweet stated: “Don’t forget his defense of the insurrection.” The Twitter accounts with the group’s name appear to have been deleted.
Before he reached the top of the stairs leading into the building entrance, Straka and the crowd around him were confronted by a U.S. Capitol Police officer holding a shield, and Straka reportedly said, “Take it away from him.”
The crowd was then seen being tear-gassed and the video ended with Straka still in the area at the top of the steps but not entering the building.
The 44-year-old hairdresser from New York launched the ‘WalkAway’ campaign on Facebook in the summer of 2018, ahead of midterm elections. Straka, who had shared in a video why he was walking away from the Democrat Party, has tens of thousands of followers and he is the first speaker from the “Stop the Steal” rally to be arrested.
