Leaked video indicates Jack Dorsey’s Twitter suppression will be much bigger than Trump

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey warned that the company’s recent censorship and ban of users on its platform will go well beyond just President Donald Trump’s account.

Dorsey’s comments to his staff were secretly recorded by an “insider whistleblower” at Twitter who provided the video to Project Veritas. The clip, released on Thursday, appears to show the social media company’s chief telling employees to expect that further censorship is to be expected and that the timeline is indefinite.

“You should always feel free to express yourself in whatever format manifestation feels right,” Dorsey said in the video clip posted by Project Veritas.

“We know we are focused on one account right now,” he said, referring to the decision to remove the account belonging to the president of the United States. “But this is going to be much bigger than just one account and it’s going to go on for much longer than just this day, and this week, and the next few weeks and go beyond the inauguration. We have to expect that, and we have to be ready for that.”

Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe told Fox News host Sean Hannity that Twitter employees appear to be having a “crisis of conscience.”

He pointed out on Hannity Thursday how Dorsey appeared to be saying there will be censorship for days and even weeks into the future, and that “we’ve had over a dozen people reach out to us this week with video evidence inside Twitter.”

“They’re just coming out in droves right now because I believe these tech companies, and I’m sure you may believe this too, have more power than government for government distributes their messaging through these platforms,” O’Keefe said.  “A lot of people are upset and the courage that these whistle-blowers are demonstrating is courageous.”

In the virtual meeting with staff, Dorsey said Twitter will do a “full retro” of accounts that will “take some time.”

“So, the focus is certainly on this account and how it ties to real-world violence. But also, we need to think much longer-term around how these dynamics play out over time. I don’t believe this is going away anytime soon,” he said.

He also pointed to how the company handled the purge of QAnon accounts as an example of “a much broader approach that we should be looking at and going deeper on.”

“You know, the U.S. is extremely divided. Our platform is showing that every single day,” the Twitter CEO said later in the clip. “And our role is to protect the integrity of that conversation and do what we can to make sure that no one is being harmed based off that. And that is our focus.”

Earlier this week in a Twitter thread explaining recent actions, Dorsey called the bans “a failure” as they “limited the potential for clarification, redemption, and learning,” and set a “dangerous” precedent.

A Twitter spokesperson told Fox News that the remarks made by Dorsey in the secretly-recorded video released by Project Veritas only echoed the words he shared on Twitter this week.

“The remarks shown in the video were delivered to our more than 5,400 employees and are nearly the same words Jack shared in a recent Tweet Thread offering context around and reflections on our work to protect the conversation in recent weeks,” the spokesperson said.

In his comments at the end of the whistleblower’s video, O’Keefe told viewers to “stay tuned.”

“We’ve had over a dozen people reach out to us this week with video evidence inside Twitter,” he said. “They may be private companies, but they have more power than all three branches of government.”
