‘Yes, I am a white’: Alec Baldwin’s wife Hilaria, or ‘Hillary,’ is shredded for lying about Hispanic heritage

Ever-volatile actor Alec Baldwin posted a bizarre, rambling eight and half minute rant about social media — for the record, Baldwin is no fan of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg — after a Twitter user posted an exhaustive thread questioning his wife’s Spanish heritage.

Hilaria Baldwin, who would acknowledge that she went by Hillary, was accused of faking a Spanish accent by Twitter user Leni Briscoe , who would also question Mrs. Baldwin’s claim that she was born in Mallorca, one of Spain’s Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean.

“Just a lot of s—t,” Alec Baldwin said in a video the shared on Instagram. “You have to kind of hack your way through the debris of Twitter — Twitter is just a vast orchard of crap, and I have certainly slung some crap in that orchard myself every now and then with things I’ve said and stuff. So, that’s not lost on me that I’m guilty of that as well.”

“But I would publicly dump Twitter tomorrow,” he said, before acknowledging that it is a useful means to promote your interests.

The 30 Rock Trump-hating actor said of Twitter content, “You have to consider the source.”

“We live in a world now where we’re hidden behind the anonymity of social media. People feel that they can say anything. … They probably would like to do anything if they weren’t at risk of getting caught and going to prison,” he added. “Because they can’t do that — because that involves real commitment to do something, to express those feelings — they say things. No profile picture very often — sometimes yes — no identifying features there, hidden behind the anonymity of social media, they want to just shoot it all over you and spray it all over you, their venom and their hate.”

“There’s things that have been said lately about people that I love, that I care about deeply, which are ridiculous,” Baldwin said.

Briscoe began a long thread last week with the tweet: ” You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decade long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person.”

Here a just a few of the follow-up tweets Briscoe added to support the accusation:

As Page Six reported, Hilaria Baldwin’s bio on her agency’s speakers site states that she was born on the island of Mallorca, Spain, and raised in Boston.

But social media users say her real name is Hillary Hayword-Thomas, and that she grew up in Massachusetts.

Baldwin is listed as an alum of the Cambridge School of Weston School in Weston, Massachusetts, a school for grades 9-12, according to Page Six.

But she told “Motherhood, Marriage & Miscarriages” in April that she moved to New York from Spain when she was 19 to attend NYU.

“I came for school and I never, ever left,” she said.

Posting her own Instagram video, Mrs. Baldwin contradicted her bio, saying she was born in Boston.

“There’s been some questions about where I’m born, I’m born in Boston,” she said. “I spent some of my childhood in Boston, some of my childhood in Spain, my family, my brother, my parents, my nephew, everybody is over there in Spain now, I’m here.”

Baldwin also commented on her accent, or lack thereof.

“I am that person, if I’ve been speaking a lot of Spanish, I tend to mix them or if I’m speaking a lot of English, I mix that,” she said. “It’s one of those things I have always been a bit insecure about.”

Stressing that she tries to “enunciate” for work, Baldwin said if she becomes “nervous or upset,” she starts to mix the two languages.

“It’s not something I’m playing at,” she added. “I want that to be very, very clear.”

After explaining why she used Hillary and Hilaria, Baldwin goes on to admit, “Yes, I am a white girl.”

“Europe has a lot of white people in there. My family is white,” she said. “Ethnically, I am a mix of many many many things. Culturally, I grew up with two cultures. So it’s really as simple as that.”
