Fox News host Tucker Carlson warned of a “new crisis” in America, the tearing down of meritocracy in favor of identity politics, where skill and content of character takes a back seat to the color of their skin, or their sexual preference.
After highlighting the Democratic mayor of Louisville, Ky., declaring racism a “public health crisis,” Carlson cited an ongoing battle Joe Biden is dealing with over who will be his Defense Secretary, with the black caucus and feminists battling for the role.
Under the mighty banner of “diversity,” being black, Hispanic or gay are considered qualifications, but as Carlson notes, those who don’t fall into the categories that are of value only if under the umbrella of liberalism, “You’re excluded from their inclusion.”
“Those are categories, they are not people, individuals,” Carlson said. “This is about identity, not country. It’s about vulcanization, not unity. Straight white men are the enemy says the party led by one, and so it goes.”
Carlson highlights the “The Huffington Post” on filling Kamala Harris’ Senate seat in California: “Three main camps and their subgroups are trying to influence California Governor Newsom. Those advocating for black woman, those advocating for a Latino and those advocating for a member of the LGBT community.”
“In other words, certain jobs for certain identities.,” Carlson said. “Certain skin colors have preprescribed roles. How is that different from a traditional caste system? How’s that better than the Jim Crow south? Those are fair questions, but no one ever asks them. Instead, the media just applauds.”
He then played a montage of Biden’s media allies praising the diversity of a potential Biden administration, as if they’re all reading from the same script.
In effect, Carlson explained, credentials aside, diversity is the overriding goal of every appointment, with even corporate America getting on board.
The Fox News host pointed to a new rule from NASDAQ requiring companies to “have or explain why they do not have at least two diverse directors, including one who self identifies as female and one who self identifies as either an underrepresented minority or LGBTQ+.”
With such importance on these definitions, Carlson suggested there may soon be a need to “verify” that people are who they say they are, asking whether that will entail blood tests, or home monitoring?
Citing Biden’s pick for treasury secretary, Janet Yellen, Carlson said she believes that eliminating social disparities is a central goal of federal economic policy.
Carlson went on to the diversity measures the left is proposing “won’t make anything more diverse, just the opposite.”
“These proposals are merely a way for the people in charge to hire more of their friends,” he said. “What you’re seeing is an attempt to preserve and codify the class system that is already in place and unfortunately that is growing more rigid by the day.”
“If you wanted a flatter society, you would demand a return to meritocracy. You would want a system where anyone, no matter where they were born or what they look like or who they slept with could succeed,” Carlson continued. “That’s what we used to have, it’s why we were proud of America, but it’s the opposite of what the left is now demanding.”
Instead, we are seeing the ruling class “pulling up the ladder, as they always do,” he said, suggesting that those “lecturing about diversity come from exactly the same elite background.”
Marcus Mabry, Vice President of Global Programming for CNN Digital Worldwide, was held up as an example.
“It’s working for him! It’s working for all his friends! It’s just not working for you and it’s not intended to,” Carlson concluded. “You’re excluded from their inclusion.”
