President Donald Trump made a short and surprising appearance in the White House briefing room that had reporters anticipating bold new comments.

But Trump played the press again, building up the excitement that he may be speaking about pending legal challenges in the presidential election. But alas, their hopes crashed as the president spoke for under just about one minute on the stock market and the coronavirus vaccine, leaving one person noting after his departure that it was “weird as sh*t.”

“I just want to congratulate everybody. The stock market Dow Jones industrial average just hit 30,000, which is the highest in history,” Trump, accompanied by Vice President Mike Pence, told the journalists Tuesday.

“We’ve never broken 30,000, and that’s despite everything that’s taking place with the pandemic,” he added.

“I’m very thrilled with what’s happened on the vaccine front, that’s been absolutely incredible. Nothing like that has ever happened medically and I think people are acknowledging that and it’s having a big effect, but the stock market’s just broken 30,000,” the president continued.

“Never been broken, that number. That’s a sacred number. 30,000, nobody thought they’d ever see it,” he said, adding that it is the ninth record in 2020.

“I just wanted to congratulate all the people within the administration that worked so hard, and most importantly I want to congratulate the people of our country because there are no people like you. Thank you very much everybody,” he concluded and turned to exit, leaving the shocked reporters scrambling to pepper him with questions.

“Mr. President, are you going to concede?” one reporter asked as he walked away.

“Sir, why not concede for the good of the country, sir?” another shouted after him.

The anticipation had escalated as journalists were surprised by the announcement earlier that the president would be speaking.

Speculation began brewing if perhaps Trump was going to formally concede the election to Democrat Joe Biden or speak about the contested election results in several states where lawsuits have been filed.

British journalist and so-called friend of the president joined the guessing only to be disappointed by what transpired in under two minutes.

Others were also left with a sort of whiplash from the micro-presser.

Stunned reporters could be heard calling the briefing “unexpected,” and  “weird as sh*t,” as well as “one of the stranger” ones to have taken place.

It seems the president proved once again how dependent the press has been on him as a newsmaker over the last four years. And with Biden’s record of nasty encounters so far with inquisitive reporters, it remains to be seen what briefings will look like over the next four years.
