President Donald Trump eviscerated Senator Ben Sasse and his “stupid and obnoxious ways” after the Nebraska Republican was heard trashing him in a phone call with constituents.

The president unloaded on “Little Ben” in a fiery pair of tweets on Saturday, calling him out as a “liability” to the GOP and an “embarrassment” to his state. The president fired back after Sasse, fearing a “blue tsunami” coming in November, leveled a multitude of insults about him during a conference call.

Sasse, who is up for reelection on Nov. 3, was heard in audio of the call slamming the president in a nearly 10-minute response to a constituent’s question about why he criticizes Trump so much.

“The way he kisses dictators’ butts. I mean, the way he ignores the Uighurs, our literal concentration camps in Xinjiang. Right now, he hasn’t lifted a finger on behalf of the Hong-Kongers,” Sasse said.

“The United States now regularly sells out our allies under his leadership, the way he treats women, spends like a drunken sailor. The ways I criticize President Obama for that kind of spending; I’ve criticized President Trump for as well. He mocks evangelicals behind closed doors. His family has treated the presidency like a business opportunity. He’s flirted with white supremacists,” Sasse claimed.

He called out the media for blaming the coronavirus pandemic on Trump but did say the president’s handling of the crisis was not “responsible” and that he “careened from curb to curb.”

He expressed his fears over a wave of Democratic victories in November and said a Trump election loss “looks likely.”

“What the heck were any of us thinking that selling a TV-obsessed narcissistic individual to the American people was a good idea? It is not a good idea,” Sasse said. “I think we are staring down the barrel of a blue tsunami and we’ve got to hold the Senate and that’s what I’m focused on.”

He lamented that Trump and his “stupid political obsessions” could drive voters away from the GOP and into the arms of the left and that Nebraskans have told him “they don’t really want more rage tweeting as a new form of entertainment.”

“I think the overwhelming reason that President Trump won in 2016 was simply because Hillary Clinton was literally the most unpopular candidate in the history of polling,” he declared.

Sasse spokesman James Wegmann confirmed the call and reiterated the importance of Senate races.

“I don’t know how many more times we can shout this: Even though the Beltway is obsessing exclusively about the presidential race, control of the Senate is ten times more important,” he told the Washington Examiner in a statement. “The fragile Senate seats that will determine whether Democrats nuke the Senate are the races Ben cares about, the races he’s working on, and the only races he’s talking about.”

The president torched the lawmaker on Twitter Saturday, accusing him of hypocrisy for playing nice with Trump until the state’s Republican primary earlier this year.

“The least effective of our 53 Republican Senators, and a person who truly doesn’t have what it takes to be great, is Little Ben Sasse of Nebraska, a State which I have gladly done so much to help,” Trump wrote.

Sasse was “as nice as a RINO can be” until he recently won the nomination, the president added.

“Then he went back to his rather stupid and obnoxious ways. Must feel he can’t lose to a Dem. Little Ben is a liability to the Republican Party, and an embarrassment to the Great State of Nebraska. Other than that, he’s just a wonderful guy!” he added.

The senator’s office had confirmed the conference call was made and Sasse offered a statement after the audio was shared.

“I’ve said this a million times over the years: When we agree, the president and I work together – on stuff like Judge Amy Coney Barrett who is a total rock star,” Sasse said, according to the Omaha World-Herald. “When we disagree, I’ll tell Nebraskans what I believe.”

Conservative commentator and radio host Glenn Beck also unloaded on Sasse in long series of tweets touting Trump’s extensive record of accomplishments against the odds. Beck wrote that he was “so disappointed” in Sasse before he went on to point out how Trump “has given us great judges” and “kicked the ass of Isis and came home.”

Beck continued to list Trump’s dealings with Iran, North Korea, the Middle East and NATO as well as his defense of “religious liberty unlike any other president at least in the last 100 years.” The economy, criminal justice system reforms, the handling of a pandemic and more were laid out by Beck in his Twitter thread.

“So yeah @BenSasse he has done somethings I am not a fan of, but as someone who didn’t support him at first (and that is putting it mildly) I remain honest enough to judge him on his entire record. He is perhaps the ONLY man in America can and has …,” Beck continued, “Stood entirely alone, surrounded by enemies, surrounded by those who took an oath to protect and defend the constitution, who are now actively engaged in destroying it and any elected president who stands in their way.”
