President Trump and an army of Trump supporters fact-checked Democrat Kamala Harris when she claimed that she and Joe Biden do not want to ban fracking—an unpopular move in several battleground states that would result in millions of jobs being lost.

Trump tweeted during the vice presidential debate:  “Joe Biden and Kamala Harris BOTH want to BAN FRACKING.”

President Trump then posted a throwback video of Senator Harris promising that she would ban fracking on Day One if she won the election.

The video clip that Trump excerpted was apparently from a September 2019 town hall, where Kamala underscored: “There is no question that I’m in favor of banning fracking.”

Vice President Mike Pence laughed out loud during the debate when Kamala claimed that she would not ban fracking.

Harris and Biden have both flip-flopped on fracking, depending on which audience they were addressing.

Biden and Harris opposed fracking when trying to pander to the far-left faction of the Democratic Party, which insists that fracking is bad for the environment. But many centrists (which actually comprise the majority of the Democratic Party) feel otherwise.

Donald Trump Jr. scoffed:  “It must be nice to be a Democrat where you can always have it both ways. We all know Joe is banning fracking, but Kamala can lie about it unchecked other than by the Vice President. Well done, Mike Pence!”

Don Jr. then posted a damning video of Joe Biden, where he repeatedly vowed to ban fracking if elected.

The Daily Caller’s Lindsay Wigo posted a compilation of Joe Biden vowing to ban or eliminate fossils fuels including fracking.

The GOP’s Twitter account noted: “REMINDER: A ban on fracking would eliminate 19 MILLION jobs across the country between 2021–2025, while reducing our GDP by $7.1 TRILLION.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Energy Institute said a ban on fracking would dramatically increase Americans’ energy costs and decimate millions of jobs.

“By 2022, 14.8 million jobs could be lost, gasoline prices and electricity prices could almost double, and each American family could see their cost of living increase by almost $4,000,” the Global Energy Institute said.

Karen Harbert, a former executive with the Global Energy Institute, is the CEO of the American Gas Association. Harbert said: “It’s easy for politicians and activists to call for an end to hydraulic fracturing—but now we know what the consequences could be. Without fracking, the U.S. would surrender our status as a global energy superpower.”

Harbert added:  “Every American family could face higher prices for the energy they consume and the products and services they buy, and almost 15 million Americans could be out of work. These extreme and irresponsible proposals should not be considered.”

Harbert said getting rid of fracking would destroy the economies of several states, especially Colorado, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

“The Energy Institute’s report looks specifically at the economic impacts of a fracking ban on Colorado, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas,” she said. “In all these states, the impact could be severe. 1.6 million Texans could lose their jobs, while Pennsylvania could lose $50 billion a year in state GDP. Colorado could lose 215,000 jobs, and the average Ohio household could see costs rise by $4,000 a year.”

She continued: “Beyond that, banning fracking would make America much more reliant on foreign sources of energy, weakening our national security.”
