Rep. Ted Yoho of Florida accused socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of being “disingenuous” about a reported confrontation the two had on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Building earlier this week.

The Florida Republican was reported to have had a heated exchange with the New York Democrat in which Yoho called her recent anti-police comments regarding rising crime rates in New York City “disgusting.”

“You are out of your freaking mind,” Yoho was reportedly overheard saying, leading Ocasio-Cortez to accuse of him being “rude.”

After the exchange, the two separated with Yoho reportedly muttering, “F**king b**ch,” the latter of which he has denied.

The Florida lawmaker apologized on Wednesday.

“I rise to apologize for the abrupt manner of the conversation I had,” Yoho said. “The offensive name-calling words attributed to me by the press were never spoken to my colleagues and if they were construed that way, I apologize for their misunderstanding.”

Ocasio-Cortez refused his apology, however.

“I will not teach my nieces and young people watching that this an apology, and what they should learn to accept,” she wrote on Twitter.

In an interview Friday with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum, Yoho pushed back, calling Ocasio-Cortez’s characterization of events “disingenuous” and stating there was more to the story that he could not discuss.

MacCallum noted that Yoho’s initial angst regarding the New York freshman lawmaker reportedly was linked to her claims that recent dramatic spikes in the city’s violent crime rate were related to poverty, while at the same time calling for defunding the NYPD.

“Maybe this has to do with the fact that people aren’t paying their rent and are scared to pay their rent and so they go out, and they need to feed their child and they don’t have money,” AOC said, going on to claim that “they’re put in a position where they feel like they either need to shoplift some bread or go hungry that night.”

“Is that what sparked you?” MacCallum asked the Florida lawmaker.

“That was part of it, yeah, but it’s been a series of things,” Yoho responded. “I can go into that, but that was something and I just asked her if we could have a minute of her time and asked for a question.”

MacCallum pushed back somewhat, saying that to Ocasio-Cortez claimed she was ambushed by Yoho.

“Did you call her ‘disgusting’?” MacCallum asked.

“No, ma’am, I was coming down from voting from the capital and as I walked across as I always do and I was coming up and she was coming up the stairs and I asked her, ‘Hey, do you have a minute,’ and she goes, yeah…we never had a conversation before and I wanted to ask her about this policy that she was telling people was okay to shoplift if you are hungry. It went backwards from there,” Yoho explained.

“You never said she was disgusting? You never said she was losing her mind?” MacCallum pressed.

“No, everything was directed at policy,” Yoho said. “When she told me she thought it was right for people to go ahead and shoplift if you’re hungry, I said, seriously, with as many social programs and faith-based programs and all these other, and food kitchens around, the best that you can do is to offer people in your district to go ahead and shoplift and while you’re calling it the same time to defund the police. I said those are just absolutely the most frickin’ crazy policies I’ve [sic] ever had. I said your policy ideas are disgusting and I turned around and walked away.”

He also denied that he called her a “f**king b**ch,” adding that he told a reporter who came up to ask about the confrontation, “no comment.”

“You know, there’s another part of this story that’s not being told, that she doesn’t tell, and I don’t wanna get into that,” he added.

Later, Yoho blasted Ocasio-Cortez for “crying” about her treatment on the House floor and then fundraising off the incident while making a video featuring her in front of the U.S. Capitol Building in a mask to with the song “Boss B**ch” playing.

“I was walking back to my office and all of a sudden I hear somebody go, ‘Ted Yoho,’ she yells it out, I turned around, and she’s pointing her finger at me and she goes, ‘Ted Yoho, I am not done with you.’ I’m like, ‘okay,’ and like I said, I guess you see what’s going on now is she’s making hay out of this, she’s fundraising off this, she’s out in front of the Capitol wearing her COVID masks playing that song ‘Boss…’ I’m not going to say it… making fun of this,” said Yoho. “But yet, she’s on the floor crying saying how bad this is and yet she’s out there saying the same thing. You know, it’s disingenuous.”
