Donald Trump Jr. has had enough of Americans getting attacked for supporting his father, especially when they are elderly and once served our country. So on Friday, he did a special favor for one of the latest victims: He thanked him personally for supporting his dad.

Here’s the story.

Earlier this week, police in Fall River, Mass., arrested a 27-year-old suspect for an attack on an elderly man they say was “violently targeted for his political views.”

Aidan Courtright was booked last week on charges of civil rights violation with injury and assault and battery on a person over 60, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and vandalism after his attack on 82-year-old Charles Chace, who supports President Donald Trump.

According to MassLive, Fall River police said Chace was standing on a familiar grassy area near a rotary holding a Trump sign when a man parked his car, got out, and started walking towards him.

The man, later identified as Courtright, walked up to the 82-year-old Trump supporter and U.S. Air Force veteran and screamed, “Give me the f**king sign!” according to police.

“Courtright then forcefully ripped the sign out of the victim’s hands, ripped it in half, and threw it on the ground. Courtright then went after the victim, grabbing him by his shirt, knocking his hat off, and throwing him violently to the ground,” police said in an incident report. “While the victim was on the ground, Courtright continued the attack by kicking him in his ribs and legs.”

Police said that Courtright was wearing pointed leather shoes as he allegedly “violently” kicked Chace. Following the attack, which was corroborated by at least two witnesses, Courtright walked back to his vehicle and drove away.

The attack got the attention of the president’s oldest son, and now he wants some answers.

Following the assault, Chace was taken to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel discovered visible bruising on his body.

“The victim stated that he believed that he was targeted and attacked because of his political beliefs and the ‘Trump’ hat that he was wearing,” the police incident report said, according to MassLive.

“The guy when he came at me, I have never seen a horror story that the face was so filled with hate and anger as his was,” Chace said, according to CBSBoston. “I was just frozen.”

A local news crew noted that Chace is well-known in his community and often comes out to the spot where he was attacked to hold up signs in support of the president.

“I think it comes from the love I have for the country,” Chace said in an emotional interview. “Why are we treating each other like this? It tears me up.”

Chace said that after Courtright stopped, “he started kinda like saying real nasty things, and jumped outta the car ‘Gimme that sign.’”

“The guy jumped at me, and he lifted me up but then body slammed me,” said Chace.

Witnesses said they watched as Courtright kicked Chace in the ribs and back with pointed shoes before driving away. They also took down Courtright’s automobile license plate number and gave it to police.

“I just want America to get back to being America again,” Chace told the local news crew. “I want both parties to stop that dividing of people.”

He added that though he’s seen a lot in his lifetime, the attack was the worst.

“That guy’s eyes and his face…I mean, it was so scary,” Chace added.

The Air Force vet’s story managed to get the attention of Don Jr. and other Americans alarmed by what happened, including talk radio host Howie Carr, who invited Chace on his program Friday.

But a surprise guest called in as well: Don Jr.

“I just wanted to say I saw your story. I’m sorry you had to go through that — we really appreciate the support,” Don. Jr. told Chace. “That stuff shouldn’t be going on in America and I just wanted to say thank you for that support, thank you for your steadfast loyalty, for your service to our country. It means the world to us and I want to have my team be able to get you some extra MAGA swag … just to say thank you for everything you stand for my friend.”

Chace, who sounded as though he was becoming emotional, responded, “Well, I have to thank you, guys. You don’t know how much you mean to us.”

“Well, I promise you, it’s guys like you who keep us motivated, patriotic Americans. Again, just thank you so much for your service to this country,” Don Jr. said.
