Fox News host Sean Hannity blasted former President Barack Obama on Tuesday over a “truly dishonest, disgusting” letter obtained by the network revealing that President Donald Trump’s predecessor had privately criticized efforts by Senate Republicans to probe Ukraine dealings involving former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.

Pushing back against what Obama’s office described the GOP probe as giving credence to a “Russian disinformation campaign,” Hannity questioned why the 44th president would intervene in such an investigation to begin with.

“The office of the former president, Barack Obama, blasted a congressional investigation into Biden’s dealing with Ukraine,” Hannity said. “Wonder why. Now, the office actually accused the investigation [of] giving credence to a ‘Russian disinformation campaign,’ and this ridiculous letter insinuated lawmakers were just spreading Russian propaganda.

“This is all a lie, what Obama put out tonight,” Hannity continued, characterizing the letter as “truly disgusting and dishonest.”

“In reality, it was Obama. It was his administration. It was Biden. They are the ones that spent months and months propagating the Russian disinformation campaign. Uh, Barack? Did you ever hear of the dirty Russian dossier that Hillary Clinton paid for? Of course, you have,” Hannity continued.

Fox News reported that the letter from Obama’s office was addressed to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), which is responsible for managing presidential records, and was sent in response to a request from Sens. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) seeking Obama administration records regarding Ukraine-related meetings.

The Obama letter claimed that the senators’ request was an improper abuse of NARA’s terms of release and an alleged effort “to shift the blame for Russian interference in the 2016 election to Ukraine.”

Hannity pushed back, noting, “Members of your administration, they used that unreliable Clinton-bought-and-paid-for, Russian misinformation from the get-go filled with Russian lies,” Hannity said, a reference to the discredited “Steele dossier.”

“Why? To deny Carter Page his civil liberties and civil rights because your people were spying, meaning [former FBI Director] Jim Comey and company, on the Trump campaign deep into the Trump presidency,” Hannity continued.

“That would be under your watch. Your guy, Jim Comey and company. That same Russian dossier was used to commit fraud on FISA applications, premeditated fraud,” he noted further. “What did Obama know, and when did he know it? What did Biden know and when did he know it?”

Grassley and Johnson have been steadily probing the Bidens’ roles in Ukraine for months. In November, they asked the National Archives to scour thousands of documents related to meetings between senior Obama administration and Ukrainian officials at the White House in 2016, Sara A. Carter reported.

The senators’ letter to David S. Ferriero, head of the National Archives, sought “records of multiple White House meetings that took place in 2016 between and among Obama Administration officials, Ukrainian government representatives, and Democratic National Committee officials.”

Investigative reporter Paul Sperry added in November as well that at least three Senate committees were probing “Obama-Biden solicitation of Ukrainian interference in the 2016 election.”

In February, shortly after the Senate’s impeachment acquittal of President Trump, the senators requested travel records from the Secret Service pertaining to Hunter Biden.

“We write to request information about whether Hunter Biden used government-sponsored travel to help conduct private business,” they wrote, focusing their inquiry on Hunter Biden’s work in both Ukraine and China during his father’s tenure as Obama’s vice president.

Also, there is the infamous video of then-VP Joe Biden bragging at a 2018 event sponsored by the Council on Foreign Relations that he threatened to withhold $2 billion in aid from Ukraine unless then-President Petro Poroshenko fired the country’s top prosecutor, who happened to be looking into corruption involving Burisma Holdings, an energy firm paying Hunter Biden tens of thousands per month to be a board member.

“Ultimately,” Hannity noted, “if President Obama was so concerned about Russian collusion, then he would’ve listened to Congressman Devin Nunes because Nunes warned Biden and Obama that in 2014, Russia would be playing around in their elections as they have in the past. He wouldn’t have dismissed [Utah Sen. Mitt] Romney’s warning in 2012 either.”
