Just like that ‘Me Too’ goes out the window, ‘I believe Biden’ trends because ‘that’s who Democrats are’

It seems the commitment to “believe all women” has gone by the wayside for Democrats who are bent on standing behind former Vice President Joe Biden.

As the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee personally addressed sexual assault allegations made by former Senate staffer Tara Reade for the first time, Democrats fell in line behind him and effectively turned their backs on the explosive #MeToo Movement.

The hashtag #IBelieveBiden began trending on Twitter soon after Biden’s appearance on MSNBC where he adamantly pushed back against the accusation and the obvious double standard in how Democrats treated the allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his nomination process in 2018.

The 77-year-old former vice president maintained that he has nothing to hide, that Reade’s claims are untrue, while steadfastly refusing to unlock records held by the University of Delaware that contain documents from his Senate career.

His stance against Reade’s claims was quickly championed by liberals who made judgment calls without ever even hearing from the alleged victim.

In a recent interview, Reade expressed how she was “stunned” by the treatment she has received from Democrats, especially prominent women politicians she previously looked up to.

“They didn’t just say, ‘Oh, we’re standing with Joe Biden until we hear more.’ They just discounted me. They marginalized me. They said they didn’t believe me,” Reade told BuzzFeed News, referring specifically to Hillary Clinton who endorsed Biden this week, as well as New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and Stacey Abrams, a former gubernatorial candidate in Georgia who has been actively campaigning to be chosen as Biden’s running mate.

Back in 2018 when Christine Blasey Ford accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault, Abrams tweeted “I believe women.” But this week, she said she believed women “deserve to be heard” and told CNN, “I believe Joe Biden.”

Journalist Glenn Greenwald tweeted that the #BelieveWomen hashtag touted by Democrats “has now officially been replaced with #IBelieveBiden (another way of saying #ThatWomanIsLying) because that’s who Democrats are.”

“One thing you do not want to be in this world is a woman accusing a prominent and powerful Democratic male politician of sexual misconduct,” he added in another tweet. “Going back to the 1990s, few people are treated worse publicly.”

Others also jumped in on Twitter to expose the hypocrisy and who Democrats really are.
