Actress Rose McGowan’s emotions boiled over as she slammed Democrats and the media as a “cult” in a social media rant.
Though she did not directly address why she was calling out Democrats, McGowan’s Twitter feed has recently been filled with commentary on the sexual assault allegations against former Vice President Joe Biden. Herself a victim of convicted rapist and former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, McGowan has stood behind Biden’s accuser, Tara Reade. (** Language warning)
I’m really sad, and I’m really tired. I normally share thoughts, but tonight it’s emotion. pic.twitter.com/mhtaoW6dTd

“I used to be a proud Democrat. I used to be a proud American. I would have died for this damned country & its ideals,” McGowan tweeted Wednesday along with a teary-eyed photo of herself.
“I was raised to be a proud Democrat,” she added, going on to recount wearing a “Vote John Kerry” pin to her younger brother’s Air Force Academy graduation.
“I thought democracy meant…I had a right to choose those who lined up with my value system,” she continued. “But what if there’s no one?”
“And I was always told it was the Democratic Party that were the good guys, that our papers were [The New York Times] and [The Washington Post] & we as a family loved listening to [All Things Considered] & we’d talk about how much we loved [Ira Glass’] voice,” she continued.
“But now I know too much,” the 46-year-old actress wrote.
“And I feel really quite a sense of loss tonight. I am not a cynical person, but America godd***. Republicans have always been painted as the bad guys, and I’ve always seen them more as a cult, but now I realize so are the democrats and the media. Macro and micro,” McGowan added.
“This is deeper than a cover-up,” she concluded. “And I’m sad because there’s death around all corners & shadows in the daytime. It hurts.”
Biden has not yet publicly addressed Reade’s sexual assault claim and is being called on to do so while his campaign has been refuting the accusation. McGowan slammed the silence by the media and others in the wake of the allegations and even called out liberal activist and her former “Charmed” co-star Alyssa Milano.
You are a fraud. This is about holding the media accountable. You go after Trump & Kavanaugh saying Believe Victims, you are a lie. You have always been a lie. The corrupt DNC is in on the smear job of Tara Reade, so are you. SHAME https://t.co/B7NHK4k09K

She slammed the “slanted & misogynistic writing” of journalists earlier this month.
My fight is with the media. How the journalists and press outlets treat assault victims with their slanted & misogynistic writing directly affects how we assault victims are treated in the world.

“Where is #MeToo?” McGowan tweeted Sunday.
She followed with a shot at Biden on Monday, calling him out as a “creep.”
“Answer your taxpayers, answer Tara Reade,” she tweeted. “You are a creep. You know it. We know it. I know it. Tara definitely knows it.”
Let me guess? @MichelleObama is endorsing you? Answer your taxpayers, answer Tara Reade, stop speaking through your manager. You are a creep. You know it. We know it. I know it. Tara definitely knows it. #DropOutBiden https://t.co/Jyp3PKT0SX

McGowan’s emotional post on Wednesday got plenty of attention, including from Brandon Straka, founder of the Walk Away campaign.
“Hey @rosemcgowan-I read ur post & identified w so many of your feelings bc I went through so many of the same feelings a few yrs ago,” he tweeted. “I walked away from the Dem Party-& it was a very painful decision at the time. Now I know it was exactly the right choice. Would love to talk 2 u.”
McGowan is going to be the the only person with principles in tact to come out of MeToo.

You’re almost there Rose. Lemme know when you wanna chat…
— Dave Rubin (@RubinReport) April 30, 2020
Rose, I can’t imagine what you’re feeling now. But I can’t help to think that the #MeToo movement & the lack of reporting on Tara Reade has in part led you to this post tonight.
There are very few politicians or people we can actually trust. All I want is honesty.

Rose, this breaks my heart for many reasons, mostly because I identify with all the feelings you’re expressing on a soul level. You’re one of the few who has been consistent and that cannot be easy on you. I’m sorry and I’m here for you in whatever way I can be. Sending love.

Hmmmmm. Hope you come out all right. We aren’t evil – conservatives. Then again, I doubt Democrats are either.
But the powerful that run out government? Yeah. We see you.— Wes Watson (@_Wes) April 30, 2020
I was raised Democrat as well and were always taught they were the party of the working man and the poor.
