Conservatives’ compassionate response to Chris Cuomo’s coronavirus diagnoses says everything

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo announced Tuesday that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently quarantined in his home’s basement.

In a statement on his Twitter account, Cuomo shared the diagnosis with his 1.5 million followers, assuring them he would still continue to work from home, and setting off a flood of well-wishes, including plenty from conservatives who can put politics aside.

“Sooooo in these difficult times that seem to get more difficult and complicated by the day,” Cuomo wrote in his tweet Tuesday.

“I just found out that I am positive for coronavirus. I have been exposed to people in recent days who have subsequently tested positive and I had fever, chills, and shortness of breath,” he added.

I just hope I don’t give it to the kids and Cristina. That would make me feel worse than this illness! I am quarantined in my basement (which actually makes the rest of the family seem pleased!) I will do my shows from here,” the 49-year-old host of CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time” wrote.

“We will all beat this by being smart and tough and united!” he vowed.

The CNN host, who is the son of the late New York Governor Mario Cuomo, interviewed his brother, the current Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, while he presented his show from his home on Monday. CNN reported that, on Friday, Cuomo was at the network’s offices in the Hudson Yards neighborhood located in New York City, which is currently dealing with the ravages of the coronavirus pandemic as the death toll rises above 900. Cuomo’s is the third case of coronavirus at CNN’s New York City workspace, according to the network.

At New York state’s daily news briefing on Tuesday, Gov. Cuomo spoke about his brother whom he called “my best friend.”

“This virus is the great equalizer,” he said.

“My brother, Chris, is positive for coronavirus. Found out this morning,” the governor said. “He’s young; in good shape; strong -— not as strong as he thinks, but — he’ll be fine.”

Cuomo’s announcement set off a wave of responses on social media where he was wished a quick recovery from colleagues and fans alike.

But Cuomo was also showered with prayers and well-wishes from those who are on the opposite side of the political and ideological spectrum from him.

While the liberal media spent most of the last few hours on Twitter bashing MyPillow founder Mike Lindell for praising President Trump during an appearance at the coronavirus press briefing Monday, Cuomo was regaled with sincere hopes for his recovery.

It wasn’t that long ago that Kentucky GOP Sen. Rand Paul tested positive for COVID-19 and liberals launched celebratory messages at the news, enjoying what they saw as well-deserved karma.

But conservatives showed what really matters as Cuomo’s news was met with tons of genuine concern and support.
