‘I am an American’: Challenger burns Rep. Ilhan Omar’s for what she left off her list of 6 self-identifiers

Sensing opportunity, opponents are lining up around the block to take on Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress in 2018.

A Republican opponent, Dalia al-Aqidi, a former Iraqi refugee, is running on the one thing Omar omitted in a recent tweet — being an American.

Bouncing from one controversy to the next, be it reports that Omar married her own brother to commit immigration fraud, cheated on her tax returns or that she engaged in an extramarital affair with her political consultant, one thing is certain about the Democrat, she takes pride in being a highly divisive individual and enjoys provoking her critics.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, the Somali refugee listed a number of things that she is — but didn’t bother to include being an American on the list.

“I am Hijabi, Muslim, Black, Foreign born, Refugee, Somali,” Omar tweeted.

Checking off several of the left’s coveted boxes of aggrievement, the congresswoman rubbed her very presence in the face of detractors, much like you’d expect a petulant child to do.

Omar’s tweet continued: “Easily triggering conservatives, Right wing bloggers, anti Muslim bigots, tinfoil conspiracy theorists, birthers, pay me [cash] to bash Muslims fraudsters, pro-occupation groups and every single xenophobe since 2016.”

But then, as we saw when she laughed at Americans for their fear of al Qaeda, Omar thoroughly enjoys dumping on citizens of the country that took her in from a Kenyan refugee camp.

Responding to the tweet, al-Aqidi tweeted: “I am an American ??  That’s why I’m running for Congress.”

Omar, a member of the radical left “squad” of four freshman Democrats, has been a lightning rod of controversy from the beginning and is quick to use her race, gender and religion as a crutch to ward off criticism.

She employed this tactic yet again when Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, responded to her to note what she did not include.

“More than a little odd that ‘American’ doesn’t make the list. Wonder why? She is a sitting member of the US Congress. But, in today’s Leftist world of intersectionality, “American” is deemed embarrassing & gauche,” Cruz tweeted.

Too clever by half, Omar responded as if she had outwitted the Republican senator — fittingly, she misspelled “American.”

“Are you suggesting being an ‘Ameican’ should be on a list of things that are triggering about me? That says a lot about you than me Senator,” she tweeted.

It is this very type of “hateful rhetoric” from Omar that motivates al-Aqidi to run, as she explained during a January appearance on “Fox & Friends.”

“As an American citizen, my duty is to defend my country and my duty is to stand up to her hatred and racism she’s spreading within her community, within the country, and even worldwide,” al-Aqidi said. “Ilhan Omar is harming every American with her hatred, her standing against what we believe in, against our own Constitution.”

“I came to the U.S. more than 25 years ago. So, basically, I’m not a refugee anymore. I’m not an Iraqi anymore. I’m an American. Period,” she added.
