Sen. Amy Klobuchar essentially insulted supporters of President Donald Trump as those who fail a “patriotism check.”
The Minnesota Democrat and 2020 presidential candidate touted herself as a fresh face in politics as she discussed her contrasting position to her 2020 rivals and Trump during a live “Morning Joe” appearance on MSNBC Monday.

Klobuchar jabbed voters supporting Trump when she insulted the president as someone lacking decency and patriotism as she answered a question posed by Karen Tumulty, a national political correspondent for The Washington Post, on the uncertainty among Democratic voters.
“How much of this opening for you, too, is the result of — at least when I go to political events, I am finding an extraordinary number of people are undecided, very, very late in this process because they no longer think Vice President Biden is inevitable,” Tumulty said. “And hasn’t that been one of your challenges as well all along, is that there just hasn’t been enough oxygen for, you know, voters who aren’t so far to the left to think that they have another option?”
“I am that person for them. I have always had strong support from independent voters. I get this,” Klobuchar responded.
“I think this election isn’t just an economic check, which is what most of our debates are. It’s also a decency check on this president. It’s a patriotism check,” she added.
“It is the decision of people like Doug Jones of Alabama and Mitt Romney to say, ‘enough. This is not moral. This guy has got to go,'” the lawmaker said as she celebrated the response Romney’s name got from her audiences following his turn away from his party to join Democrats in voting “guilty” on one of the articles of impeachment against Trump last week.
“To see the former Republican presidential candidate make that decision and then to be in Democratic rallies like I was in, I brought it up every single rally I was in and everyone cheered Mitt Romney,” Klobuchar gushed.
“The world is a bit upside-down. And the reason the world is that way, is that there’s a bunch of people out there especially in this state, that don’t agree with everything said on the debate stage,: she continued. “I don’t agree with everything that’s said on the debate stage, but what they do agree on is that the heart of America is bigger than the heart of this guy in the White House.”
Earlier, the 2020 hopeful who is reportedly climbing in New Hampshire polling, touted herself as “the best contrast” to Trump.
“I think the best contrast to Donald Trump is someone like me,” she said. “The Midwest is not flyover country to me. I’m going to be able to say that to Donald Trump up on the debate stage. I live there.”

Klobuchar’s dismissal of the president and his supporters was met with quick backlash on social media.
Shame on her for calling half the nation unamerican and creating more division

Calling half the country unpatriotic doesn’t seem very smart, much less presidential.

What a joke… Amy is really complaining about Trump supporters being to Patriotic…

I guess she thinks siding with Schiff Nadler Schumer and Pelosi is patriotic. I consider that lunacy! #Trump4MoreYears
— Rod (@Rod46898307) February 10, 2020
Last I knew, patriotic meant supportive of the welfare and security of one’s nation. That sure sounds like Trump to me. Or are you going to pull out the old chestnut, “who are you going to believe? Me or your lying eyes?”Go gaslight another country, Amy, this one is #MAGA country.

What today’s Democrats know about patriotism wouldn’t fill a thimble.

They just can’t help themselves from showing their #TDS. The question had nothing to do with Trump or his supporters.

How about chasing citizen journalists down the street and jabbing them with umbrellas and pepper spraying them? Or egging them, or hitting them on the head with locks & bricks? Or stopping them from eating in restaurants, OR mowing them down as they peacefully register voters?
— All in for President Trump since 2016, on to 2020! (@Dcm58775436) February 10, 2020
Wow. Now we are unpatriotic?!?! These Democrats insulting voters isn’t going to go well for them.
