Conservative actor James Woods’ return to Twitter after the social media platform tried to censor his thoughts was celebrated. Picking up right were he left off, Woods wasted little time in reminding us why he was so beloved to begin with.
With film producer Harvey Weinstein’s rape trial in New York nearing a conclusion — the disgraced Hollywood producer also faces a charge of forcibly performing oral sex on a different woman in 2006 — Woods highlighted a 2012 quote from the sexual predator in favor of gun control.
“If we don’t get gun-control laws in this country, we are full of beans. To have the National Rifle Association rule the United States is pathetic. And I agree with Mayor Michael Bloomberg: It’s time to put up or shut up about gun control for both parties,” Weinstein said at the time.
Showing the political insight and sharp wit that he’s become well known for, Woods tweeted: “Rapists loved unarmed victims…”

Weinstein’s quote came after the shooting in Aurora, Colo., where a gunman opened fire at a movie theater during a midnight screen of the Batman film, “The Dark Knight Rises.”
The shooting claimed the lives of 12 people, with another 58 wounded.
At the time, Weinstein was reportedly calling for a summit of top filmmakers to look at how on-screen violence might lead to real-life violence — how’s that for hypocrisy.
His gun control quote came less than a year before he allegedly raped the woman he’s now being tried for.
The “centerpiece” of the rape case in New York, according to the Associated Press, is “six women out of the many who have accused Weinstein of vile sexual behavior.”
The AP reported: “Their harrowing accounts, the centerpiece of a prosecution case that rested Thursday after two weeks of testimony, could help convict the disgraced film producer and put him in prison for the rest of his life.”
The remarkable thing about the online reactions to Woods’ tweets is the number of photos of Weinstein with Democratic politicians.
Here’s a sampling of some of the responses from Twitter:
Harvey Weinstein agreeing with his good friend, Mini @MikeBloomberg on gun control. Imagine that, birds of a feather. Hey Mini, there’s NO amount of money in this world that would be enough for me to vote for you!

Yep…why don’t they get it? We must NOT forget the lessons learned in WWII! An armed citizenry is a must…our founding fathers knew that…we can’t have a 2nd amendment without the 1st & the reverse! pic.twitter.com/CybEmUAjAe

Absolutely agree! I have yet to hear of a criminal who gives a damn about the law, so gun control laws will only hurt those of us who respect and follow the law!

The NRA is not some nefarious group that “rules”, it’s made up of everyday Americans that stand together to protect their God given rights! You’re not standing against the NRA, you’re standing against patriots that would stand up for your rights too!
