Biden says he won’t comply with Senate subpoena in Trump’s ‘obstruction of Congress’ impeachment trial

Joe Biden, still trying to hide behind the tattered cloak of invisibility issued by the media to certain leftist politicians, confirmed he would not comply with any potential Senate impeachment trial subpoena.

The former vice president told the Des Moines Register editorial board on Friday that he would not honor a subpoena because it would “take the focus off” President Trump.

“Do you stand by your earlier statements that you wouldn’t comply if you were subpoenaed to testify in an impeachment trial before the Senate,” asked executive editor Carol Hunter, referring back to a statement he had made to NPR earlier in the month.

“Correct, and the reason I wouldn’t is because it’s all designed to deal with Trump doing what he’s done his whole life, trying to take the focus off him,” Biden proclaimed.

From there, he veered off into calling Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani, who has been investigating corruption in Ukraine involving Biden and his son Hunter, a “thug.”

“The issue is not what … not a single person, not one single person, even that thug Giuliani and his compatriots have said that I did anything other than my job.” He went on to claim that he did his job well.

“This is all about a diversion,” Biden claimed, adding that this is “a technique [Trump] uses all the time. He’s a chronic liar.”

To her credit, the editor brought the Dem candidate back to the issue of the potential subpoena, asking, “Doesn’t that position you as if you’re defying a subpoena, putting yourself above the law?”

“Well look, the grounds for them to call me would be overwhelmingly specious, so I don’t anticipate that happening anyway. But what it would do if I voluntarily just said let me go and make my case,” Biden replied. “What are you going to cover? You guys are going to cover for three weeks anything that I said. And he’s going to get away. You guys buy into it all the time. Not a joke … Doesn’t mean I shouldn’t testify if you thought I should, but think what it’s about. It’s all about what he does all the time, his entire career. Take the focus off. This guy violated the Constitution. He said it in the driveway of the White House. He acknowledged he asked for help.”

With House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sitting on the two articles of impeachment, interminably delaying the step of sending them over to the Senate for a trial, it seems quite likely that her rationale has a lot to do with the possibility of Senate Republicans flipping the narrative from the Trump impeachment coup to the real crimes committed by Democrats in Ukraine and in the treasonous fabrication of a case against the president. Clearly, the potential is there for GOP leaders to call Joe and Hunter Biden, as well as other Democrats to testify, shattering the flimsy house of cards that many in the media still are pretending is a valid case for impeaching Trump.

So that much truth at least can be discerned in Biden’s explanation as to why he would do all he could to avoid the specter of turning the glare of the Senate’s investigative spotlight on the true wrong-doers … and why Pelosi is desperately holding onto the articles of impeachment.
