An Iowa man was sentenced to more than 16 years in jail after setting fire to a church’s LGBT flag. Keep in mind that there’s no punishment for burning an American flag, as that’s protected as “free speech” under the First Amendment.
Adolfo Martinez of Ames, Iowa, was found guilty of third-degree arson, third-degree harassment, and of committing a hate crime for stealing an LGBT pride flag from a church and setting it on fire in June 2019.
Martinez confessed to police that he burned the LGBT flag with lighter fluid after stealing it from the Ames United Church of Christ, according to court documents.
Adolfo Martinez was sentenced to 15 years for arson as a hate crime, one year for reckless use of fire and 30 days for harassment. Prosecutors said the long jail sentence was justified because Martinez was a “habitual offender.”
The church’s lesbian pastor, Eileen Gebbie, claimed that Christians have a special duty to stand up for the LGBT community.
“I think Christian churches have a very specific duty to combat and make up for the depths of spiritual and actual violence that Christian churches have done to the LGBTQIA people,” Gebbie told the Des Moines Register.
Naturally, Eileen Gebbie says nothing about Islam’s murderous stance against homosexuality.

“Pastor” Gebbie is a vocal supporter of abortion — something Christians oppose — since Christians do not condone the murders of unborn babies.
As for Adolfo Martinez, if he had claimed to be an illegal alien, he probably would have escaped a jail sentence and even been hailed as a hero by the Left.
In an interview with a local news station, attorney Jessica Reynolds made it clear that Martinez’s sentencing should be considered a warning to anyone thinking of targeting the LGBTQ community.
Reynolds even bragged about how aggressively she went after Adolfo in seeking the “hate crime” designation, which raised his arson charge from an aggravated misdemeanor to a felony. “We hope that everyone understands that these types of crimes are going to be taken very seriously and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” she said.
In another statement, Reynolds called the sentencing of Martinez “historic,” noting that “[h]ate crimes will not be tolerated in my jurisdiction. Offenders will be aggressively prosecuted and held accountable.”
In 2018, supporters of Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters burned an American flag and shouted “America was never great!” and “black power!” outside her Los Angeles office.
The group held signs reading ““Don’t mess with our Queen Maxine,” and “Deport Trump.”
Naturally, no one from that group was punished for burning an American flag.
A reporter with the Los Angeles Times tweeted that Maxine Waters supporters stole the American flag from a random car and set it on fire while chanting “F–k the government!” and “America was never great!”

In addition to celebrating the burning of the American flag, today’s left cheers removing a U.S. flag and replacing it with a Mexican flag outside federal facilities.
In July 2019, hundreds of anti-ICE protesters replaced an American flag with a Mexican flag outside an ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) facility in Aurora, Colorado.
The protesters also removed a “Blue Lives Matter” flag and vandalized it by spray-painting the words “Abolish ICE” across it before raising the flag upside-down on a pole next to the flag of Mexico.

Ironically, most of the anti-ICE protesters were self-flagellating white apologists who prioritize illegal aliens above taxpaying American citizens and lawful residents.
While they gleefully raise the flag of Mexico to undermine US immigration laws, they forget that if any of them snuck across the Mexican border illegally, they’d immediately be deported back to the United States — no questions asked.
There would be no Mexicans protesting for their right to stay illegally in Mexico. Let that sink in.
