Bloomberg News policy to give Dem candidates immunity from bad press sends shockwaves

In a gross dereliction of journalistic ethics, Bloomberg News editor-in-chief John Micklethwait ordered his staff not to investigate their boss, Mike Bloomberg, or any Democratic presidential candidate.

However, Micklethwait said Bloomberg News must continue to investigate President Trump.

Fox News host Martha MacCallum was shocked, saying Bloomberg News’ refusal to investigate any Democratic presidential candidate proves that it is nakedly partisan and doesn’t care that everyone knows this.

“I find this fascinating,” MacCallum said. “The fact that this ‘news’ organization is saying that they are not going to investigate Bloomberg or any of the Democrat candidates, but they will investigate President Trump just says, ‘We are completely on one side.'”

She continued:  “I don’t know how you can be a news organization that way. Mike Bloomberg should be saying, ‘Cover me. Cover everybody. Do your job!’ Why isn’t he saying that?”

Lara Trump, the wife of Eric Trump, is a senior advisor on the President’s re-election campaign. Lara is not surprised by this apparent admission by Bloomberg News that it is totally biased.

Let this sink in: If Bloomberg News’ political coverage is biased, imagine how partisan its “business news” coverage is. All those negative stories about the booming Trump economy are presumably tainted by the organization’s anti-Trump animus.

“This is exactly what we have seen from the vast majority of the mainstream media since Day 1 of Donald Trump’s presidency,” Lara said. “They are obsessed with finding anything that this President did wrong. He says something in the wrong tone, they attack him. Yet when it comes to the Democrats [they ignore all the scandals and corruption].”

Lara explained: “The mainstream media is the marketing arm for the Democrat Party by default. Everybody can agree with that. So this is not that surprising to many people, to hear that they are not going to investigate Bloomberg, they are not going to investigate any Democrats. That shouldn’t be shocking to anyone. It says a lot.”

Martha MacCallum called the news blackout of Democratic presidential candidates “really sad.” She noted that Fox News — which has been slammed as partisan by the left-wing media — has investigated every Trump scandal in detail.

“A lot of Americans will look at that and say how can you call yourself a news organization?” MacCallum said. “I know a couple of [Bloomberg News’] top opinion guys have left to work on the campaign, but you have to liberate the rest of your team. We’ve covered every single President Trump scandal. You have to cover what’s going on.”

The brouhaha erupted yesterday (Nov. 25) after Bloomberg News editor-in-chief John Micklethwait (a Brit) issued a memo to his staff, saying Bloomberg News will not investigate their boss, Mike Bloomberg, or any of his Democratic rivals.

Billionaire Mike Bloomberg is the founder of Bloomberg LP, who holds an 89% ownership stake in the corporation.

Micklethwait wrote in his memo:  “We will continue our tradition of not investigating Mike (and his family and foundation ) and we will extend the same policy to his rivals in the Democratic primaries. We cannot treat Mike’s democratic competitors differently from him. Our team will continue to investigate the Trump administration.”

Several members of the Bloomberg News editorial board — including Trump-haters David Shipley and Tim O’Brien — took a leave of absence from their jobs to work on Bloomberg’s campaign. How’s that for “objective journalism?”

**UPDATE** Dec. 2:  The Trump campaign will no longer credential Bloomberg News reporters for rallies or campaign events.
