Trump rips ‘crazed lunatics’ of ‘do-nothing’ Dem Party for sham impeachment charade

Speaking at a rally in Louisiana Thursday night, President Donald Trump ripped the Democratic Party for its partisan impeachment inquisition.

“We did nothing wrong — and they’re doing nothing,” Trump said.

With Democrats going public this week with their dog and pony impeachment show trial, bringing their secret proceedings out from behind closed doors in the basement of the U.S. Capitol, and changing their strategy to move away from “quid pro quo” — no evidence — to now push the claim that the president is guilty of “bribery,” Trump was in no mood for niceties.

“The radical left — Democrats — is ripping our country apart,” Trump said. “They’re trying to overthrow American democracy and erase the votes of tens of millions of Americans.

“First there was the Russia hoax — then it was the Mueller witch hunt,” Trump said. “We’ve been going through this from before the election took place. A bunch of bad people, and then, one of the single greatest lies ever told by anybody in this government.”

“And now the absolutely crazed lunatics, the Democrats, radical left and their media partners standing right back there are pushing the deranged impeachment witch hunt for doing nothing wrong,” the president added.

The mere mention of the media elicited long, pronounced booing from the crowded arena.

Speaking in Bossier City, La., this was Trump’s first rally since public hearings began Wednesday and he can still pack a house.

The rally comes before Saturday’s tight gubernatorial election, with Republican Eddie Rispone challenging incumbent Democrat John Bel Edwards.

“This Saturday, the eyes of history are looking down on the great people of Louisiana,” Trump said. “It’s a close one. You’ve gotta vote on Saturday. You’re gonna have a great Republican governor.”

The president tagged Wednesday’s two star witnesses — William Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine, and deputy assistant secretary of state George Kent — as “Never Trumpers.”

“You saw yesterday how about when they asked these two Never Trumpers, ‘what exactly do you think you impeach him for?'” Trump said. “And they stood there and went like, ‘what?'”

“But they’re unraveling and their sinister plans will fail,” he added. “They’ve already failed as far as I’m concerned.”

Trump mocked his chief antagonizer, House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who is leading the Democrats’ impeachment effort, charging that the lawmaker is a “dishonest guy.”

“Little Shifty Schiff. He’s got the little 10-inch neck. ‘What size shirts do you need, Adam?’ ‘I wear a size nine,'” he ridiculed, before making a play on the state’s top-rated college football team. “He will not make the LSU football team, that I can tell you.”

The president also said the partisan impeachment hearings were helping his campaign raise money, saying they raised more than $3 million in donations in the first 24 hours after the hearing.

And he again stressed that Americans “aren’t buying” the opposition party’s efforts to unseat him.

“The people of this country aren’t buying it – you see it because we’re going up and they’re going down,” Trump said. “Let’s keep it going for a while.”
