New Jersey resident Pamela Hamill says Joe Biden defamed her father by falsely claiming her dad was a drunk driver who had caused the 1972 car crash that killed Biden’s first wife Neilia and their 13-month-old daughter.
Hamill told the Newark Post in 2008 that her father, Curtis Dunn, was haunted by Biden’s malicious lies until the day he died in 1999.
Dunn was a tractor-trailer driver. In December 1972, Dunn was driving his truck when the wife of then-Senator Joe Biden drove into the path of his vehicle, according to police reports.
Dunn overturned his truck while swerving to avoid a collision. Police said Dunn was the first person to render assistance to Neilia Biden after she crashed her car “possibly because her head was turned and she didn’t see the oncoming truck.”
In other words, the car accident was likely caused by Neilia Biden — not Curtis Dunn.
For years, Joe Biden repeatedly claimed that a drunk driver had crashed into his wife’s car. However, police filed no charges against Dunn after their investigation concluded that he had done nothing wrong.

In 2007, Biden recounted: “A tractor-trailer, a guy who allegedly — and I never pursued it — drank his lunch instead of eating his lunch, broadsided my family and killed my wife instantly and killed my daughter instantly and hospitalized my two sons.”
Delaware Superior Court Judge Jerome Herlihy oversaw the police investigation of the 1972 collusion. At the time, Herlihy was the chief prosecutor in the case. He says there was no evidence to support Biden’s claim that Curtis Dunn was drunk or at fault.
“The rumor about alcohol being involved by either party, especially the truck driver (Dunn), is incorrect,” Herlihy said.
Pamela Hamill was furious that Biden repeated that false story for years, presumably in a bid to garner public sympathy.
“The story already is tragic enough, why did he have to sensationalize it by saying my father was drunk?” Hamill said. “My family is outraged.”
Hamill said her dad was tormented by Biden’s false story and was riddled with guilt until his death.
“Growing up, my dad never talked about it,” Hamill said. “He always got very solemn around Christmastime because the anniversary was Dec. 18, and he never wanted to celebrate the holidays. When newspapers had anniversary articles (about the crash), we hid them from dad.”
In 2008, Hamill said she wrote Joe Biden a letter (one of many), urging him to stop lying about her dad.
She said Biden responded with a handwritten note that said: “All that I can say is I am sorry for all of us, and please know that neither I or my sons feel any animosity whatsoever.”
However, Biden never admitted that he lied about the incident for years.
This story recently resurfaced because Joe Biden is making character an issue in the presidential election. Biden has repeatedly insisted that he’s a man of integrity while slamming President Trump as a liar.
Meanwhile, Trump says Biden is a corrupt corporate puppet whose only claim to fame is that he “understood how to kiss Barack Obama’s *ss.”
