After a leading question by a reporter, Joe Biden went off with a not-so-veiled shot at the Trump family, saying: “No one in my family will have an office in the White House.”

On Sunday, a reporter at an Altoona, Iowa, press conference asked Biden about comments Hunter Biden’s attorney made on his behalf after stepping down from the board of a China-based company. The attorney’s statement read in part: “Under a Biden Administration, Hunter will readily comply with any and all guidelines or standards a President Biden may issue to address purported conflicts of interest, or the appearance of such conflicts, including any restrictions related to overseas business interests.”

The reporter asked what kind of ethical guidelines a President Biden would introduce for his White House.

“No one in my family will have an office in the White House, will sit in meetings as if they are a cabinet member, will have any business relationship with anyone that relates to foreign corporation or government. Period,” said Biden, who was clearly ready with his response.

Then reverting to his political counteroffensive, Biden demanded that reporters focus on Trump, not the Bidens.

“What I’m not going to let you all do is let you take the focus off the problem,” Biden said. “No one has asserted my son did a single thing wrong. No one has asserted that I’ve done anything wrong except the lying president. That’s the only thing. That’s the focus.”

From there, Biden shifted his attack on Trump into a higher gear. Though it is interesting that he also made the claim that his son Hunter is “a man of integrity.” Hunter was given an officer’s commission in the U.S. Navy Reserve after receiving a waiver for a past drug-related incident, but then a month later tested positive for cocaine and was discharged. Months after that fiasco, the young man landed hugely lucrative positions on company boards, while his father remained in office as the U.S. vice president.

Denying that anything wrong was done by his son or himself, Biden claimed: “Every major national, international and local news operation that has looked into it has said it’s a lie. This is a president flat lying, number one. Number two, the statement my son put out today which I saw when he put it out, I was told there was one being put out. I did not consult with him about what was being put out. In fact represents the kind of man of integrity he is and what in fact he has done and why he stepped down.

“And I can tell you now in if I am your president,” Biden went on, “next president, I’m going to build on the squeaky clean, transparent environment we had in the Obama Biden White House and no one in my family or associated with me will be involved in any foreign operation whatsoever. Period. End of story. Now let’s focus on the problem. The problem is we have a president who violated his oath. He’s invited not just relating to me, on three occasions, he’s gone to foreign governments and asked for their input in a domestic election. The Russians, the Chinese, and Ukrainians. And there’s not a single shred of evidence to suggest anything I did was wrong. I enforced the policy of the United States government backed up by the IMF. Backed up by the EU, and backed up by all our allies. To clean up the corruption and fire a prosecutor who was corrupt. Period. I never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever had a conversation my son about anything that I was doing. Everybody knows that.”
