A cadre of anti-Trump celebrities are organizing to make sure that the president is impeached — and they mean business.
The Democratic Coalition is vowing to hold Trump’s feet to the fire with an “impeachment task force” and has enlisted some famous names to help get the job done. The “force” plans to deliver a rapid response to Trump during the impeachment inquiry, Newsweek reported.
Some of Twitter’s most vocal anti-Trump voices including Alyssa Milano, Debra Messing, Tom Arnold, George Takei, Ron Pearlman, and Rosie O’Donnell will join the “force,” according to Newsweek.
The Democratic Coalition is founded by Scott Dworkin and seems to be a response to President Trump’s “Impeachment Defense Taskforce.”
“I want to know who stood with me when it mattered most, which is why my team is making me a list of EVERY AMERICAN PATRIOT who adds their name and joins the Official Impeachment Defense Taskforce,” a Trump ad read.
Dworkin predicts that his group will grow rapidly within the coming weeks and plans to take Trump head-on.
“Trump’s propaganda machine is going to be in overdrive for the foreseeable future, so we need to be fighting every day, in every way,” Dworkin said.
Only, Dworkin’s strategy of using loud-mouthed celebrities could be a major mistake. A, B, and C-listers have been coming out of the woodwork and trying to stop Trump since he announced his 2016 run.
And now, he’s president.
Rosie O’Donnell was burned “bigly” just this week when she tweeted her own poll asking if Trump should be impeached. She didn’t get the response she’d hoped for, but no worries, because she’s joining the force.
Of course, Dworkin’s coalition won’t be exclusive to celebs, but the celeb angle signals the kiss-of-death for his movement. At least according to the reaction when Obama Foundation Board member Robert Wolf tweeted the news:
LOL! Is this going to be on Saturday Night Live? Is Alec Baldwin involved?
