This is how “fake news” happens.
A Democratic strategist appearing on Fox News casually pinned President Donald Trump with the blame for “choosing to ban” freshman congresswomen from entering Israel.

Laura Fink prompted a moment of correction after accusing the president of something he had no power over as she spoke with Fox News guest host Charles Payne during a segment on “Your World With Neil Cavuto” Monday.
Fink defended Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib and Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, who held a press conference Monday in which they criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after he blocked the two Muslims from his country over their support of a movement to boycott Israel.

Omar denounced Israel during the Monday news conference at the Minnesota State Capitol Building, saying that “denying a visit to duly-elected members of Congress is not consistent with being an ally and denying millions of people freedom of movement, or expression, or self-determination is not consistent with being a democracy.”
“Well, although the two congresswoman are alone in being the first to ever be barred from a nation that we consider our ally and encouraged by our own president, they are not alone in criticizing Benjamin Netanyahu and his policies,” Fink told the Fox News panel Monday.
“This is an unpopular prime minister among his own people, it’s someone who couldn’t form a government in May. And he will be up for reelection again in the coming months in September,” she added.
Fink continued her criticism of anyone but the two Democrats, fixing her finger-pointing at Trump as if he has any control over decisions made by the government of Israel.
“However, I do think that this does in fact ratchet up the tension and the criticism by banning them, and by President Trump choosing to ban them,” she said before seeming to suggest that Trump was “restricting” the speech of the congresswomen.
“It creates an environment where Middle East peace and the advancement of the Israeli people is stymied and is limited. And so ultimately, by singling out these congresswomen and restricting their speech, he has eroded the possibility for progress and for Israeli peace and for people on both sides of the West Bank,” Fink said.
Unlike the pattern on more left-leaning media outlets, Fink was not allowed to casually drop her untruths on viewers without pushback.
Payne interjected to set her straight as he moved on to the next panelist.
“President Trump is not the one who makes decisions on who can go to Israel or not. This was Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision,” he noted the simple fact.
Fox News political analyst Gianno Caldwell agreed, saying he found it “astonishing” to see what was “on full display” by Tlaib and Omar and adding that the claim that Trump “doesn’t care about peace in the Middle East” is “ridiculous.”
