Lindsey Graham hits Dems for threat to ‘pack’ Supreme Court, taunts ‘Trump’s 3rd term’

Sen. Lindsey Graham slammed Senate Democrats for effectively bullying the Supreme Court in a gun rights case.

The Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman vowed that he would “do everything in my power” to prevent Democrats from achieving their liberal dream after they warned the high court to “heal itself” or be “restructured.”

In a brief filed Monday related to a New York City gun law case, Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse, (D-R.I.,) Richard Blumenthal, (D-Conn.,) Mazie Hirono, (D-Hawaii,) Richard Durbin, (D-Ill.,) and Kirsten Gillibrand, (D-N.Y.) declared that the Court is “not well.”

“The Supreme Court is not well. And the people know it,” the brief in the case of New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. City of New York, stated. “Perhaps the Court can heal itself before the public demands it be ‘restructured in order to reduce the influence of politics.'”

One can only imagine the hysteria if Republicans were making the same remarks to the Supreme Court Justices as Democrats are effectively threatening to alter the high court’s composition if the conservative majority were to decide in favor of gun owners.

“When you hear Democrats talking about expanding the Supreme Court……..they are talking about making the Court more liberal,” Graham tweeted Wednesday, linking to a Fox News story about the brief.

“This has been a Dream of the Left for decades. I will do everything in my power to ensure that dream is NEVER fulfilled!” the South Carolina Republican declared.

Some of the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates have also suggested expanding the court, thus allowing a president to load it with more justices who follow a particular ideology.

Graham fired off another shot at his Democratic colleagues, saying the Supreme Court is fine but it is the “American political system” that “is the sick patient.”

As a final dig, the GOP lawmaker taunted Democrats with the idea of a third term for President Trump thanks to their antics.
