Michelle Obama just had to insert herself into the Trump-Cummings drama

It’s a little disgusting watching leftists use the Trump-Cummings drama as an excuse to promote their own brands, but there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight at this point. Even Michelle Obama has now inserted herself into the drama.

“On #NationalDanceDay, I’m shouting out the Lethal Ladies, a Baltimore STEP team who I saw perform back in 2017,” the former first lady wrote on Twitter on Saturday. “I’m so proud of you all—and everyone who’s dancing today!”

The tweet includes a video of the step team doing a performance that features Obama’s often-used slogan, “when they go low, we go high.”

Obama may not have specifically mentioned President Donald Trump or Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), but her tweet dropped just hours after the president went after the Maryland congressman.

This is Michelle Obama’s style. She inserts herself into whatever political drama is happening, but makes sure to do so in an underhanded way so she can then smile and pretend she’s taking the high road and above everything that is happening. It’s a strange way for a former first lady to act.

If she wants to be politically involved and to join the “resistance” against Trump then she should put her name on it and actually directly comment on matters instead of doing this strange shadow game where she insults the sitting president without actually saying his name.

Obama is far from the only leftist to go after Trump since his tweets targeting Cummings.

Many have slammed the president as racist, including Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). What doesn’t hold up about the racist argument is that the problems Trump has pointed out in West Baltimore, Cummings’ congressional district, are very real and have been highlighted by liberals in the past.

The out-of-control crime and corruption in the city was depicted in the popular HBO drama “The Wire.” The creator David Simon, an outspoken critic of the president, recently tried attacking Trump over his Cummings tweets, but he accidentally proved Trump’s original point when he said the president would not last five minutes in the city.

Statistics and recent media reports also show that Cummings’ congressional district is truly suffering. This is all while Cummings is yelling at House hearings about the border crisis and trying to subpoena White House documents in an attempt to remove Trump from office.

The president’s point is that an elected official is ignoring his own district because he wants far-left radicals to applaud him and to build his brand in front of television cameras.

President Trump responded on Twitter to those accusing him of racism for calling out Cummings, including Speaker of the House Pelosi.

“Someone please explain to Nancy Pelosi, who was recently called racist by those in her own party, that there is nothing wrong with bringing out the very obvious fact that Congressman Elijah Cummings has done a very poor job for his district and the City of Baltimore,” he tweeted.

The president continued, “Just take a look, the facts speak far louder than words! The Democrats always play the Race Card, when in fact they have done so little for our Nation’s great African American people. Now, lowest unemployment in U.S. history, and only getting better. Elijah Cummings has failed badly!”

Trump has also retweeted videos showing the poor conditions in Baltimore.
