With a simple response to a tweet from Pulte Capital CEO Bill Pulte, earlier this month, President Trump is credited with inspiring donations totaling $30,000 for a combat vet with a disabling injury. As a result, Pulte told Fox News on Saturday that Trump transformed the face of philanthropy.

“I’m not sure many other presidents would have done it, and literally with one tweet — he calls it his typewriter, I call it his magic typewriter — he literally punched a hole in the reality of philanthropy,” Pulte said.

Pulte sent a tweet on July 10 to the President that read:  “If @realDonaldTrump retweets this, I will give $30,000 to a Veteran on Twitter.”

“THANK YOU BILL,” the President replied.

After Trump’s reply, Pulte said, social media users quickly began sending in donations for veterans. Nine days later, Pulte awarded combat vet Lena Ramon with a new car and $10,000 cash. The CEO and philanthropist tweeted a video that showed him telling a very surprised Ramon that he had bought her the car and that he had extra cash for her due to Trump’s tweet …

“You have a great respect for veterans,” said Pete Hegseth as he introduced Pulte on “Fox & Friends.” “You throw the tweet out to the President. Did you expect something would actually come of it?”

“I actually thought he would do it. He’s a businessman,” Pulte replied. “He’s very creative. I think he thinks about things differently than people have. I’m not sure many other presidents would have done it. With one tweet, he calls it his typewriter, he punched a hole in the reality of philanthropy. We’re moving philanthropy on social media. I’m raising money for many veterans, including Lena who is amazing. She has a traumatic brain injury. We’ve been able to give her a car because of the President’s tweet. This is what America should be doing, using technology and the President has helped that.”

Ramon told Hegseth she was overwhelmed by the generosity that has changed her life with the help of the President and Pulte. “They’re our voices to speak for us,” she said as she spoke about the struggles many veterans have coming back to civilian life.

“I was very shocked, overwhelmed, that having the President and Bill and Code of Vets and the team and everything to put all this together, to show they’re caring and loving for veterans and doing what is right for us. They’re our voices to speak for us …  generosity of people, that was part of it. It’s a life changing thing for me, life changing for my kids. This does make a difference to us.

Pulte spoke to his belief that the Internet is the future to do even more philanthropic work. “With the President, him just even retweeting, we raised over $50,000 for a colonel in the military who lost all of his belongings in a fire. We raised over $50,000 with one tweet from me, and that’s thanks to the President. So there’s many other examples. A paraplegic marine, we raised $13,000. People all across the globe … giving the causes money, $1, $2, $5, this is a phenomenon that’s taken off virally and we intend to keep it going.”
