Looking to capture for a second time Obama-like lightning in a bottle, Democrats and their media cohorts got their panties in a collective wad over a tweet shared by Donald Trump Jr. questioning whether Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., is an “American black.”
The retweet being characterized as a racist attack on Harris, equivalent to the birther question that dogged Barack Obama.
But there’s one glaring problem with the narrative, and he calls himself Don Lemon.
In the rush to condemn President Trump’s eldest son, the Trump-hating cabal neglects to share that the post he retweeted was from an African American, who was reacting to the fact that the 2020 presidential candidate’s parents are Jamaican and Indian.
In sharing the tweet, Trump Jr. asked, “Is this true? Wow.”
He would later delete the retweet, saying he did because of a misunderstanding of his intent.
“Don’s tweet was simply him asking if it was true that Kamala Harris was half-Indian because it’s not something he had ever heard before,” spokesman Andy Surabian told the New York Times. “And once he saw that folks were misconstruing the intent of his tweet, he quickly deleted it.”
With the major media outlets rushing to the story, the race-baiting Democratic Party wasted no time in reacting, this being the latest example of how toxic the resistance to President Trump has become.

The attacks against @KamalaHarris are racist and ugly. We all have an obligation to speak out and say so. And it’s within the power and obligation of tech companies to stop these vile lies dead in their tracks.

“These are the same racist attacks his daddy tried on Barack Obama, and they didn’t work then, and they’re not going to work now,” said Harris’ national press secretary Ian Sams in an appearance on CNN’s “Reliable Sources.”

And this where CNN anchor Don Lemon comes into play, because he was arguing the same position as Ali Alexander in an exchange with network contributor April Ryan.
Back in February.
“Number one, she is a Black woman,” Ryan argued. “She is a mixed-race woman. When you see her, you see her Blackness. But she is also South Asian and her dad is Jamaican. She is a Black woman.”
Lemon pushed back strongly over whether Harris was African-American.
“There is a difference between being African-American and being black,” the CNN anchor insisted. “Latino people are people of color, but they are not black, they’re brown people.”
“She is a black woman,” Ryan interjected.
“I agree with that, but is she African-American?” Lemon shouted back. “All she had to do was say, ‘I am Black, but I’m not African-American.’”
When Ryan tried to point out that many Africans ended up in the Caribbean, Lemon interrupted to say, “Jamaica is not America. Jamaica did not come out of Jim Crow. I’m just saying.”
Which is EXACTLY what Alexander is saying. Repeatedly. He offers a rational, detail oriented argument of his position on his Twitter feed.
Alexander even referenced the Lemon/Ryan debate to ask: “Why am I being attacked by *every* media outlet and called all sorts of names for saying Kamala Harris is an American born to a Indian and Jamaican BUT
“Is Don Lemon a birther?”
