Despite complaining incessantly about the conditions at Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s underfunded and understaffed detention facilities, and further using these conditions to demonize President Donald Trump’s administration, Democrats themselves refuse to do anything substantive to resolve the crisis.
Empty Spending Bill
Case in point: On Monday the Democrat-led House passed a spending bill that would do virtually nothing to ease the strain on ICE.
“[T]he bill lacks money for detention by the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. … The Democratic bill omits money for added beds the agency wants to detain more people,” The Washington Times confirmed Monday evening.
If anything, the bill would likely only exacerbate the crisis by further incentivizing illegal immigration. For instance, the bill reportedly includes money “for a help line to assist migrants fighting their deportations in court.”
Meanwhile, as the House passed this useless bill, radical Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to cheer the efforts of a bunch of Wayfair employees who’d walked out to the protest the e-commerce company’s sale of beds to ICE.
“The planned protest arose days after Wayfair employees learned that the company had received a $200,000 order for furniture from BCFS, a nonprofit government contractor that operates detention facilities,” Fox Business Network reported.
“A group of more than 500 Wayfair employees signed a letter last week asking company executives to cease business dealings with contractors operating at the border.”
As news of this walkout spread, AOC rushed to lavish praise on the employees:
Wayfair workers couldn’t stomach they were making beds to cage children.
They asked the company to stop. CEO said no.
Tomorrow, they‘re walking out.
This is what solidarity looks like – a reminder that everyday people have real power, as long as we’re brave enough to use it. https://t.co/667abeLDTG

This tweet earned the young congresswoman scathing criticism.
“Her logic is cold, callous, calculated and cruel; rather than compromise in the slightest with the Trump administration, AOC would see children harmed so that Trump gets a black eye and the crisis gets worse,” a political commentator with The Federalist pointed out.
“But why? Why would someone who claims to be horrified by the situation not want to help fix it?”
That is a question that remains unanswered, though two possible answers have emerged.
Answer One: They Hate The President
“This is the first time, and I served 18 years in the House, this is the first time that I’ve seen Democrats refuse to provide humanitarian aid because they hate the president more than they are concerned over the welfare of those people at the border,” he said to host Elizabeth MacDonald.
MacDonald added that, according to reports, Democrats had previously blocked aid to the border 17 times, all on the basis that the border situation was a “manufactured crisis.”
Answer Two: They Want Open Borders
Evidence strongly suggests that, contrary to the Democrats’ claims that they believe in borders and immigration laws, they secretly want America to become an open-borders nation.
When the president announced since-delayed plans last week for ICE to begin deportations of illegal aliens, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly told him in a phone call that deporting illegal aliens for being in violation of America’s federal immigration laws isn’t right …
“I said a violation of status is not a reason for deportation, that’s just not so,” she recalled telling the president during a speech she delivered Monday. “If you have some case you want to make about somebody who’s been accused… that has nothing to do with violation of status, because then we’re talking about over 10 million people who may be subjected to this treatment, and what we need there is comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship.”
That path already exists: It’s called LEGAL immigration, and over the past 10 days an estimated 7.4 million former legal immigrants have used this path to become naturalized citizens.
Listen to Pelosi below:
On the same day that Pelosi revealed this conversation, Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren called for repealing a foundational law that criminalizes authorized border crossings.
“We should not be criminalizing mamas and babies trying to flee violence at home or trying to build a better future,” she said in a statement to HuffPost. “We must pass comprehensive immigration reform that is in line with our values, creates a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants including our DREAMers, and protects our borders.”
Again, such a “pathway” already exists …
All the evidence points to the Democrat Party now being an open-borders party that wants to abandon the rule of law and institute a system where anyone from anywhere may waltz into the United States like he or she lives here and then be on her her merry way.
The party’s attitude is not sitting well with Republicans.
“Congress has the power to solve this crisis. Instead, Speaker Pelosi and her conference are doing nothing; we are worsening the situation. We are abandoning our Border Patrol and ICE agents and innocent Americans around the country who are affected by this crisis,” Rep. Andy Biggs said in a statement Monday.
“We are sacrificing our safety and sovereignty to please the open-borders special interests. This is dereliction of duty, and the American people should not stand for this bureaucratic insanity any longer. They deserve better from Washington, D.C.”
Tonight, House Dems passed a bill that does nothing to secure our border, address the massive influx of illegal aliens, or close the asylum loopholes being exploited by criminal cartels. It is irresponsible legislation that encourages rampant lawlessness. https://t.co/gplfApzrIm pic.twitter.com/R4laA3z1H9
