A police officer was executed Sunday by a thug in a food market located just over 5 miles from Ferguson, Missouri, where 18-year-old Michael Brown was killed while attacking a police officer.
The incident prompted one social media user to offer t-shirts glorifying the cops death.
North County Cooperative Police Officer Michael Langsdorf was responding to a call on someone cashing a bad check at Clay’s Wellston Food Market, in St. Louis, KMOV reported.
Upon arriving, Langsdorf got into a struggle with the suspect, identified as Bonette Kymbrelle Meeks. After Meeks struck Langsdorf in the head with a gun pulled from his waistband, resulting in the dazed officer falling face down on the ground, Meeks executed him with a shot to the back of the head, as explained by Major Ron Martin.
“At some point Officer Langsdorf was on top of Meeks,” Martin said, according to the CBS affiliate. “I don’t know how, looking at the video, Mr. Meeks was able to do it, but he was able to pull a gun from his waistband, strike Officer Langsdorf in the side of the head a few times, which caused Officer Langsdorf to be in kind of a daze and lose his hold on Mr. Meeks. Mr. Meeks was able to stand up and stand over Officer Langsdorf as Officer Langsdorf was on the ground facedown, stomach down. Mr. Meeks had the gun in his hand, pointed the gun to the back of Officer Langsdorf’s head and fired one shot.”
The only good news in this story is that the animal was caught nearby, and reportedly was still carrying the gun used to fatally shoot Officer Langsdorf, KMOV 4 reported.
Video surveillance inside the store reportedly captured the entire incident — there is even a YouTube video still up as of this writing of the downed officer bleeding on the floor. While conservative viewpoints are often deemed inappropriate, YouTube must believe this is acceptable content — the clip was reported a Facebook Live video.
As bad as the incident was, a social media user reacted by offering poorly photo-shopped t-shirts that celebrate the officer’s death — it’s unlikely the t-shirts actually exist, obviously.
A screenshot of the shirts, attributed to Damn Llejs Smith’s Facebook page, include a photo of the officer on the front, along with the message “1 Down … Many more to go.”
On the back, a photo of the downed officer is featured, and the message, “Better one of theirs … Than one of ours.”
The shirts appear to be photo-shopped, and a review of Smith’s Facebook page shows two images have been deleted.
But Smith is clear about his sentiments on the officer being executed in cold blood. For the record, Langsdorf, the father of two teenage children, was the fourth cop killed in a week across the U.S.
Smith, who boasts in his profile that he studied at “Mo Dept. Of Corrections,” appears to be getting his kicks from trolling people who take offense to his despicable actions.
“I got shirts for sale, bills to pay, and children to take care of,” he said in one post. “I don’t care who picture it is. Police been putting us on shirts for years, karma be like that sometimes.”
Meeks was from North Carolina and had an extensive criminal record, according to KMOV 4.
