IKEA ‘Real Life Series’ recreates iconic living rooms from shows like ‘Friends’, ‘Simpsons’ and ‘Stranger Things’

Looking to the “The Simpsons,” “Stranger Things” and “Friends,” IKEA is helping people decorate their living rooms to look like those in the popular shows.

Want to recreate the apartment Monica and Rachel shared in “Friends” for your own enjoyment? Well, the Swedish furniture chain is now making that possible, down to smallest of details. The design set up is called “room for mates.”

For comparison, here is the actual living room from the “Friends” set:

Ironically, the ad campaign is titled the “Real Life Series,” and will be on display at some IKEA stores in the Middle East, according to Ad Week.

“We brought to life the iconic living rooms of the most beloved families of all times, through tons of furniture combinations in lots of different styles and sizes – and at affordable prices,” the IKEA website states. “We’ve grouped all the products for each room for you, so it’s easy to recreate what you see here in your own home. Take a look and make your living room iconic with IKEA.”

How about a living room to match the Simpsons, down to the crooked picture?

“A living room is not just a place for families to get together and watch TV, it’s a place to share happy moments and have fun. And fun is what this room is all about,” the site says of the Simpson recreation.

You’ll be expecting Bart to drop in any moment in the “room for families” design!

And now the “real” deal.

Vinod Jayan, IKEA’s managing director in the UAE, Qatar, Egypt and Oman, spoke with Ad Week on what went into the campaign.

“The IKEA team worked closely with the creatives for months. They went through hundreds of items to find the perfect pieces that would bring those iconic rooms,” Jayan explained.

With the living room from “Stranger Things,” the Netflix science fiction horror series, you’re sure to leave an impression on your guests — though what impression that may be could be out of your control.

This layout is called “room for everyone.”

“Every living room tells a story of the family who lives there,” the IKEA website says. “And this one is not afraid to tell it out loud. So let your furniture do the talking. You can express your family’s romantic with a colourful string of lights or brag about your great book collection, perfectly organized on our display cases.”

Now compare it to the real thing:
