Eric Holder attacks Bill Barr: ‘He is not fit to lead DOJ’

Eric Holder’s stunning lack of self-awareness was on display again in his latest attack on Attorney General William Barr.

The self-described “wingman” for former President Obama unloaded on Barr for launching an investigation into the origins of Robert Mueller’s Russia probe, tweeting out that the attorney general is protecting President Donald Trump and is “not fit” to lead the Department of Justice.

Holder joined other liberal, Obama-era voices in attacking Barr after he announced he was looking into potential abuses in the beginning stages of the Mueller probe, reportedly appointing U.S. Attorney John Durham to essentially investigate the investigators.

Barr “deliberately misrepresented the Mueller report,” Holder tweeted, declaring “He is not fit to lead DOJ.”

The nation’s first African-American attorney general who served under Obama for six years, apparently has forgotten his own scandal-laden past, which included being the only cabinet member in U.S. history at that time to be held in contempt of Congress.

The 68-year-old career prosecutor refused to release documents to the House Oversight Committee that pertained to the failed Justice Department sting operation known as Fast and Furious which allowed approximately 2,000 weapons from the U.S. to pass into the hands of suspected Mexican gun smugglers.

Barr’s sweeping investigation has sent liberal government officials, both past and present, into a tailspin with former Obama officials such as CIA director John Brennan, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and fired FBI Director James Comey going on the offense in the media.

In an interview with Fox News last week, Barr laughed off the Democrats and their “political circus” while vowing he would “find out exactly what happened” with the Russia investigation. He dismissed the attempt by Democrats under House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerry Nadler to hold him in contempt for refusing to comply with a subpoena for Mueller’s unredacted report, and said he found Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s claim that he lied to Congress “laughable.”

Barr accused Democrats of trying to “undermine my credibility” and trying to “discredit” him because of fears over his investigation.

Rep. Devin Nunes slammed former leaders for “living in an alternative reality” by attacking Barr to “create a narrative to cover up their tracks.”

The California Republican told “Fox & Friends” Sunday that neither Barr nor House Republicans would be “swayed” by the claims.

Holder’s attack on Barr over the weekend was not his first, as he had previously slammed the attorney general’s “conduct” and his “unacceptable” behavior during a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee at the beginning of the month.

“The conduct of AG Barr over the last few weeks and in the hearing today has been shown to be unacceptable,” Holder had tweeted. “I thought he was an institutionalist, committed to both the rule of law and his role as the lawyer for the American people. I was very wrong. He is protecting the President.”

He was slammed at the time for his lack of self-awareness and Holder was raked over the coals again after attacking Barr’s qualifications to lead the DOJ.
